Pedagogical Assistant Apprentices for Haderslev Municipality

Haderslev Municipality is seeking 3-4 pedagogical assistant apprentices.

We see pedagogical assistant apprentices as an important part of the welfare of the future. Therefore we prioritise a safe training path with close guidance, fixed points of contact and good opportunities for both professional and personal development throughout the education.

We are seeking prospective pedagogical assistant apprentices with starts on the basic course 2 in week 6, 2027. If you are selected, you are guaranteed a training placement in Haderslev Municipality when you begin the main course. The employment and apprentice wage come into effect at the start of the basic course.

Experience from the pedagogical field is not a prerequisite. We place more emphasis on your curiosity, motivation to learn and desire to actively participate in a work community.

As an apprentice in Haderslev Municipality you can expect

• to become part of day-care, before- and after-school care (SFO) and the possibility of training within the specialized area in Haderslev Municipality
• security for an apprentice placement in the main course when you have passed basic course 2
• wage during basic course 2 and the main course according to current rules
• guidance from trained mentors
• focus on your ongoing development and how we best support it through both school periods and training periods
• coherence in your educational pathway from employment to completed qualification, including:
• kick-off meeting together with the other newly hired PAU apprentices in June
• meeting with and visits to your upcoming workplace before you start the main course
• opportunity for an abroad placement in the main course
• opportunity for adult apprentice wages if you meet the conditions.

The pedagogical assistant education is a vocational education.

The training gives you knowledge and skills to work professionally and pedagogically with people of different ages and life situations, both within the general and the specialized field.

You gain experience in planning and conducting activities, supporting well-being and participation in communities, collaborating with colleagues and relatives, and applying pedagogical methods in practice.

As a pedagogical assistant you can, among other things, work in kindergartens, crèches, after-school programs, residential facilities or specialized institutions for people with special needs or physical and mental disabilities.

Your path to becoming a pedagogical assistant

You start on basic course 2 in week 6, 2027 at SOSU Syd in Aabenraa. The basic course typically lasts 20 weeks.

After you have passed basic course 2, you continue to the main course for pedagogical assistants. The main course lasts 2 years and 1.5 months and alternates between 4 school periods and 3 training periods. School periods take place at SOSU Syd in Aabenraa, while the on-the-job training takes place in Haderslev Municipality.

Haderslev Municipality arranges training placements for you during the main course. The first two training periods are within the day-care or SFO/school area, and the last training period may be within the specialized area.

This position is aimed at applicants who need to start on basic course 2. If you have already passed basic course 2, this position is not relevant for you. Please keep an eye on Haderslev Municipality’s job postings in spring 2027, where we expect to post additional apprentice positions for the main course.

Admission requirements

To start on basic course 2 you must meet the admission requirements for the program.

You must, among other things

• have passed Danish and mathematics in 9th grade with at least grade 02
• apply for admission to basic course 2 at SOSU Syd via optagelse.dk.

If you are 25 years or older, you must have completed a recognition of prior learning (RKV) at an SOSU school. The RKV assesses whether you can receive credit for parts of the education based on previous education or work experience.

Salary and employment terms

You may receive adult apprentice wages if you are 25 years or older and meet the requirements for relevant work experience. You must document your work experience yourself.

If you do not meet the conditions for adult apprentice wages, you can contact your job center about adult trainee wages.

Please note that a criminal background and child abuse clearance will be requested prior to employment, and that employment will be conditional on these being satisfactory.

• documentation that you have applied for admission to basic course 2 on optagelse.dk
• RKV, if you are 25 or older. If you have not yet completed your RKV, please provide documentation for a scheduled date for RKV
• residence and work permit if you come from a country outside the EU/EEA
• documentation of work experience if you apply for adult apprentice wages
• CV and other relevant attachments.
