About the job

Would you like to help set the direction for a strong working community – and make a difference for young people and families?

Children, Youth and Families in Holbæk Municipality are in development. We are in the process of setting a new direction, building on what works while developing what needs to be different.

We are now looking for a team leader for our Youth Team . You will have the opportunity to lead a professionally strong team with dedicated staff, high social capital and a strong sense of workplace community – and at the same time become an important part of the further development of our overall authority area.

You will lead a strong team

As a team leader you will have personnel responsibility for about 20 skilled and engaged employees who work with young people aged 13-17 and youth support up to age 23.

Since this is a youth group with many contact interfaces, there will be many partners in the task-solving.

Placement outside the home is handled by our foster care team.

You step into a team where staff support each other and have a strong sense of workplace community . There is a high level of professional competence, engagement and good mood – and a culture where people help each other succeed with the core task.

As a leader you will be supported by an experienced professional consultant who has in-depth knowledge of the area and the municipality. You will also have access to a strong professional secretariat including administration, lawyers and development consultants, who contribute to creating good framework for your leadership role.

A management group that succeeds together

You will become part of a collaborative leadership group where we see each other as close partners. We believe that good leadership becomes stronger when we develop it together.

You will therefore have both an independent management responsibility and an important role in developing the common professional and managerial practice across the area.

We work from a shared leadership framework with eight competence areas and the municipality’s six values: trust, justice, cooperation, engagement, professionalism and accountability .

The leadership framework should not just be on paper. It should be felt in everyday life – in the way we lead, collaborate and make decisions. Here you will have the opportunity to leave your mark.

In recent years we have strengthened leadership capacity. Together you will create a common leadership language, a common leadership culture and a common practice that supports professional quality, clear direction and a good working environment .

A leadership role with both operations and development

You will play a central role in ensuring stable operation while you help develop our organization and professional practice.

You will, among other things, work on

  • ensuring shared professionalism and statutory compliance across teams and the department, so that legal rights are safeguarded in case handling.
  • data-driven leadership, as ongoing use of and follow-up on data is an important part of the leadership task,
  • contributing to the department’s development plan and taking responsibility for concrete development tasks,
  • professional sparring and qualification of decisions and case handling in close partnership with the professional consultant,
  • budget planning and financial management in collaboration with the department head and the finance team,
  • following up on timeliness in, among other things, child welfare investigations, action plans, decisions and assessments,
  • facilitating social-work sparring meetings,
  • qualifying and supporting recommendations to the visitation committee,
  • supporting a good and sustainable working environment,
  • implementing and anchoring current legislation as well as the methods LØFT and ICS ,
  • personnel management and daily operations, including recruitment, performance interviews (MUS), holiday planning and handling of sickness absence.

You will also have good opportunities to strengthen cross-departmental collaboration with, among others, daycare and school, PPR, health visitors, educational institutions, the coordinated youth effort, UU, Family House and SSP.

In addition, we will begin a two-year collaboration with the Danish Agency for Social and Housing Affairs’ Task Force, which will become an important part of the continued development of the area.

We are looking for you who...

You do not need to have all the answers beforehand. The most important thing is that you want the leadership role, can inspire followers and have an eye for both people, professionalism and operations.

We imagine that you are educated as a social worker or have another relevant education and solid knowledge of the social sector and the Child Act. It is an advantage if you have knowledge of the Youth Crime Board’s work.

You have leadership experience – or a clear motivation to take the next step into leadership.

As a leader you are

  • present and accessible – you are visible in everyday life and genuinely care about the employees and their tasks,
  • clear and direction-setting – you create clarity about expectations, priorities and professional direction,
  • proper and collaborative – you meet people with respect and believe that the best solutions are created together,
  • professionally curious – you are interested in practice and dare to ask questions, also when something needs to be done differently,
  • calm and decisive – you can maintain overview and make well-considered decisions, even when cases are complex,
  • systematic and results-oriented – you can create structure and follow up so that intentions are translated into action,
  • loyal and bold – you can stand by joint decisions and at the same time constructively challenge when needed,
  • good at communicating – you can create meaning and translate both professional, organizational and political priorities.

We offer

You will obtain an exciting leadership position with great variety and the opportunity to make a difference – both for the staff in the Youth Team and for the overall development of our authority area.

You will become part of a workplace where

  • professionalism and development are prioritized,
  • there is room for sparring and reflection,
  • we help each other and take joint responsibility,
  • well-being and the working environment are a leadership priority,
  • you will have the opportunity to influence both the team’s and the department’s development.

We collaborate closely with other departments in the municipality, private providers and other partners to create good and coherent solutions for children, young people and families.

The workplace is centrally located in Holbæk town, close to Holbæk Station. There is the possibility of flexible working hours and home office, but we expect that you as a rule will be physically present in the organization.

The practical

  • The position is desired to be filled no later than January 1, 2027 .
  • Salary and employment terms are negotiated individually according to applicable collective agreement and union affiliation.
  • Child and criminal background checks will be obtained upon appointment.
  • Interviews are expected to be held Tuesday, November 17 and Friday, November 20, 2026 with testing between the interviews.
  • If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact interim Department Head Steen Bager at telephone 72 36 34 92 or Professional Consultant Trine Halkjær at telephone 72 36 13 94 .
