About the job

Professional leader in Gentofte Municipality for co-leadership of a growing building case team

Gentofte Municipality is seeking a professional leader for the building team in Planning and Building . It is an attractive position where you can help lead a well-functioning and technically strong building team in a large and resourceful capital municipality.

We have for some time been working purposefully to reduce building case processing times and have already achieved good results. With you on the team, we will maintain the momentum and further develop a robust and sustainable solution to tasks.

About Gentofte Municipality and Planning and Building

Planning and Building is part of the task area Climate, Environment and Technology . We work to ensure that the municipality's physical framework supports citizens’ well-being and opportunities for expression with a focus on citizen satisfaction, sustainability, legislation and aesthetics.

The department's main tasks lie in physical planning in a broad sense, and we are the municipality's building authority. We work with municipal and local planning as well as other routine planning tasks. As the building authority we administer according to the Planning Act and the Building Act and a number of other laws and regulations. The building team works closely with the planting team, and we attach importance to ensuring that building case processing supports the municipality's physical planning and development.

From the turn of the year we have 5 planners, 22 building case handlers, 1 jurist, 5 administrative staff, 1 professional leader of the building authority, 1 professional leader of the planting team and 1 head of the entire department. We value each other’s company and diverse professional backgrounds and therefore prioritize regular social and professional events to maintain camaraderie and collaboration.

The building team has grown in recent years, and therefore we are expanding the leadership from one to two professional leaders. You will, together with the current professional leader, Peter Werner , form a peer, shared leadership of the team’s approximately 25 employees.

You will share responsibility for the team’s overall operation, professional quality, employee well-being and development. The personnel responsibility will be shared between you, while the remaining allocation of tasks and responsibilities will be determined jointly based on the team’s needs and your respective competencies. You thus get a real opportunity to help develop a clear and well-functioning leadership model.

About the position

As a professional leader you will play a central role in the daily management of the building team. Together with Peter Werner and the team you will set direction, prioritize tasks and ensure high professional quality, good prioritization and ongoing development of the team’s task handling.

Your tasks will include, among other things, to

  • participate in the department's overall leadership and work closely with the other professional leader for the building team, the professional leader for the planting team and the department head on cross-cutting priorities, operations and development
  • have personnel responsibility for about 12-14 employees
  • ensure clear prioritization, high professional quality and consistent task handling
  • develop efficient workflows, maintain progress in case processing and support smooth and robust operations
  • strengthen the professional environment through sparring, feedback and clear direction
  • professionally engage in collaboration with the political level and contribute to answering questions, case submissions and follow-up on political wishes and decisions
  • contribute to an attractive workplace characterized by high professionalism, learning, collaboration and shared responsibility

About you

We are looking for a leader with strong professional insight, e.g., an architect or engineer, who can create structure, direction and momentum in a busy daily routine. We place particular emphasis on your experience with leadership in building case management , including streamlining workflows and reducing case backlogs .

You can take independent responsibility and at the same time succeed in a peer leadership model where shared responsibility, coordination and trust are decisive.

You communicate clearly, collaborate well with employees, leadership colleagues and other partners. You can combine high professional quality with well-being and results – and room to laugh together in daily life.

We offer

With us you get

  • a key leadership role in a central professional area with strong political interest and support
  • a real opportunity to influence both the leadership model, daily operations and the building team’s subsequent development
  • a strong professional environment with engaged employees who value their workplace for the open and trusting culture
  • a close and committed collaboration in a peer leadership
  • a workplace with good collegial relations – also across departments
