About the job

Hi there!

We are looking for ambulance responders and paramedics for efficient shifts in Aabenraa and Sønderborg, In Sønderborg there is also an opportunity to become a medical assistant.

Both at the station in Aabenraa and in Sønderborg you will become part of a close collegial community where collaboration, professional pride and trust in each other are a natural part of daily life. Here you get a varied working day with both independent decisions, professional challenges and the opportunity to make a real difference for the citizens of Southern Jutland.

At Ambulance South we focus on there being room for the whole life. Therefore we continually strive to make ambulance work more flexible. Among other things via our Freedom Portal you have, within certain fixed limits, good opportunities to get time off when life outside work requires it. Read more further down in the posting about how the Freedom Portal can contribute to a flexible leisure and work life.

This is a job for you if you want professional challenges, are motivated by community and solidarity, and want to take responsibility, make independent decisions and be a proud teammate in the prehospital efforts in Southern Jutland.

Working in Ambulance South

When you start in Ambulance South, you become part of a community where you are seen, heard and taken seriously – both professionally and personally.

In daily life you will meet a high degree of co-determination. We work systematically with a staff committee, where you can influence everything from vehicles and equipment to uniforms and workflows. Your experience and your ideas help shape how we solve the task.

Professionalism is the driving force behind our work. You get access to a well-developed training system with differentiated teaching, supplementary training days and instructors who are ready for sparring. The goal is that both ambulance responders and paramedics can provide the best possible, professional and caring prehospital care.

As a new colleague you will also feel that we protect a strong collegial cohesion. We actively work with initiatives such as DUSA (“You are not alone”) to ensure a good psychosocial work environment. That means we support each other – both in the demanding situations and in the small breaks in daily life.

Our workplace community is built on the values pride, camaraderie, trust and foresight . In practice, this means that we are proud of our profession, we pull together, we trust each other’s judgment, and we are curious about new ways to help citizens quickly, smartly and cohesively – always putting the citizen first.

A Flexible Working Life

As an ambulance rescuer in Prehospital South there must be room for both work and life outside. Therefore we have created the Freedom Portal – our internal freedom and shift-swapping hub for rescuers.

Via the Freedom Portal you can get help when you need to take time off or have a shift moved. You submit a request – and planners continue to work to find a solution.

This means more flexible shift schedules and the possibility to take time off for example family life or important events – without compromising operations.

“We work in a more flexible planning universe, where we can drop the fixed rules and tailor the work life to fit well with private life.”

So far it has been a huge success – we only receive positive feedback. We have, as of today, from January 1, relocated or given time off on around 2,000 shifts.”

  • Anja Malton, Shift Planner
