Two substance abuse counselors for outpatient treatment

We are seeking one substance counselor for a permanent position of 37 hours and one for a 12-month temporary position at 37 hours with the possibility of extension.

Who are we?

The Substance Advisory Service is part of the Center for Psychiatry and Socially Excluded in Horsens Municipality. We are a multidisciplinary workplace with among others social workers, pedagogues, nurses, occupational therapists, a psychologist, students and attached specialist medical consultants. Together we offer counseling and treatment to adults over 18 with alcohol- and/or drug problems as well as counseling and support to relatives and partners.

We offer individual counseling trajectories, day treatment, substitution treatment, online programs and group programs, including MOVE and MOVE+. We also refer to day and inpatient treatment when relevant based on a concrete and individual assessment.

Our core task is to support citizens in creating positive changes in their lives and their use of substances – whether the goal is cessation, reduction, stabilization or harm reduction. We base our work on the citizen’s own goals, resources and hopes and work recovery-oriented, holistic and with a focus on equality in health.

A workplace in development

In these years we are strengthening the quality of treatment, documentation, common workflows and cross-disciplinary cooperation. At the same time we will develop a new team structure and a new intake procedure so that citizens experience more coherent, flexible and professionally sound trajectories.

The upcoming changes in the welfare sector – including the dignity reform – give rise to thinking our efforts in new directions. We will explore possibilities for more citizen-centered, outreach and proactive interventions, where help can meet the citizen closer to where they are. This requires professional curiosity and strong collaborations across sectors.

We already collaborate closely with, among others, regional psychiatry on the dual diagnosis area, homelessness efforts, authorities, job center, social services, general practitioners and relatives. As a new employee you will have a real opportunity to influence both our organization and the professional practice.

About the position and your tasks

You will become part of outpatient treatment with a special focus on citizens in Team Over30. You plan and conduct treatment programs in close dialogue with the citizen and are responsible for your own treatment plans, goals and follow-up. We work systematically with, among other things, MI (motivational interviewing), CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), SMART goals and relapse prevention.

Your central tasks will be to

• Conduct individual outpatient treatment conversations and support the citizen's motivation, coping and change.
• Prepare, adjust and follow up on treatment plans, goals and progression – with the citizen's wishes and overall life situation as a starting point.
• Collaborate with intake, health colleagues, day treatment and external actors on coordinated paths and any supplementary efforts.
• Contribute to revisits, case reviews, professional sparring and development of common treatment practices.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation and use digital professional systems safely and professionally.

Who are you?

We imagine that you have a relevant social science education – for example as a social worker, pedagogue or occupational therapist. You preferably have experience with substance treatment, social psychiatry, vulnerable adults or other complex citizen work. If you do not have experience from the substance area, your motivation and willingness to learn are also important.

We particularly emphasize that you

• Have experience with or interest in MI, CBT, recovery and holistic approaches.
• Thrive in cross-disciplinary collaboration and can maintain an overview in several parallel citizen trajectories.
• Communicate professionally, document accurately and be open to feedback, learning and change.

Experience with dual diagnoses, authority work or digital development opportunities is an advantage, but your professional judgment and interpersonal skills are valued highly.
