About the job

We seek an education-responsible chief physician for the Emergency Department

The Emergency Department is the entry point to the emergency hospital for many patients and a core part of the hospital in Gødstrup.

As a pioneer department in the emergency area, we will continue to help set the direction for the development of the acute medical field and create strong, coherent patient pathways

Since our current education-responsible chief physician is switching tracks to become chief physician for orthopedic injuries and rapid pathways, we now seek her replacement.

We are looking for a strong professional profile who wants to take overall responsibility for education and competence development of doctors in the department, help drive development and translate ambitions into action. You will become part of a leadership team with close and trustful collaboration, where there is room for professional discussions, new ideas and joint solutions.

Together with engaged staff you will have the opportunity to influence the development of the Emergency Department and leave your mark on education, professionalism, patient pathways and operations – with high quality and the patient at the center.

As education-responsible chief physician you are hired in a full-time position where leadership, education development and clinical work go hand in hand. You will have the opportunity to stay close to the clinical daily life while also helping shape the department's professional and strategic development.

Your tasks include, among other things

  • Personnel management for a group of named doctors.
  • Development conversations, which you plan and, where relevant, conduct together with the department leadership.
  • Leadership and development within the education area, where you participate in a shared chairmanship together with a chief nurse and a clinician. The department's work is organized in the following pillars:
  • Orthopedic injuries and rapid pathways
  • Technology & innovation
  • Research
  • Clinical practice
  • Education
  • Clinical work, where you take part in the department's on-call coverage and daily operations and join a team of specialists, all employed in the Emergency Department.
  • Strategic leadership, where you become part of the overall function leader group, working closely together to set the direction for and implement the department's strategic development

The cornerstone of our work is “The patient first.” This is underpinned by organizational teamwork, flow management as well as high professional competencies among both doctors and nurses. Something we expect you as a chief physician to help support and develop.

We also expect you, in addition to your chairmanship, to be engaged and participate in the other development of the department. In your professional role you are clinically active and function as a role model for both on-call colleagues and younger doctors, so they are motivated to educate themselves in acute medicine. Supervision is thus an important part of the specialist role in the Emergency Department around the clock.

In the Emergency Department, we work purposefully to create a high professional standard in the reception and treatment of the acute patient.

We continuously develop the Emergency Department and our staff within 3 categories: Clinical work, research and education.

These 3 focus areas are intended to ensure rapid and effective diagnosis of the undifferentiated patient who arrives in the Emergency Department.

Development work is given high priority, and dedicated time is therefore allocated for this.

You are expected to actively participate in a targeted effort so that the Emergency Department in Gødstrup develops into a knowledge base for the development and organization of emergency departments. You should have can-do attitude and preferably strong skills in implementation and development processes.

We offer that you become part of an academically inspiring environment where initiatives grow, and where your development of the field has the potential to spread to the rest of the country.

The Emergency Department in Gødstrup currently has about 220 staff in total.

The department's overall leadership team consists of

  • Department leadership (chief physician and chief nurse)
  • 3 chief nurses and 1 Secretariat leader
  • 5 lead physicians

You will become part of a on-call team currently counting 17 specialists

On-call

Lead physicians and specialists participate in on-call work, which is always an on-site presence on a 24/7 basis, including work in the Emergency Department's 6 zones. As an emergency physician you will work in all of the department's zones, in teams consisting of junior doctors and nurses.

We typically work in the following on-call types: 8-18, 8-15, 14-23 and 17:30-8:30.

We have 1 specialist at night and 3-4 specialists during the day/evening in the on-call team.

Medical qualifications

The professional qualifications must match the task description given in the function and job description, and you must either be a specialist in acute medicine or be able to carry out tasks belonging to the acute medical specialty.
