Employment from February 1, 2027, or by agreement

Do you

  • be able to manage complex perioperative courses
  • become familiar with TEE, TTE and lung ultrasound
  • work in a department with a focus on a good working environment

Then you should apply for the position as a specialist in anesthesiology.

The position is located within all responsibilities in HLK Anesthesiology, i.e. acute and elective operations within heart, lung and vascular surgery, as well as performing ward rounds and on-call duties in a smaller intensive recovery unit (6 beds).

The department physician will be part of a 9-shift on-site presence on weekdays and a on-call duty on weekends. During the on-call period there is also an accompanying senior physician on call on weekdays and on weekends.

HLK Anesthesiology provides annual anesthesia for about 1,000 heart operations (adult patients), including CABG and valve operations, 900 thoracic operations and 600 vascular operations. Part of the operations take place in a radiological setting in close collaboration with surgeons, cardiologists and radiologists.

The department has a highly specialized function for handling Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) in connection with triage, stabilization, transport and treatment of patients with acute lung failure.

We offer

  • thorough training in the different anesthesias/functions during the day and participation in on-call after 1 month and preceded by a follow-up on-call
  • a 2-year training program, which will take you through the entire spectrum of thoracic anesthesia, either with a view to further specialization, or as a solid foundation for other anesthesiological work
  • good training in trans-thoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, lung ultrasound and ultrasound-guided blocks
  • opportunity to participate in the department's very active surgical and anesthesiological research environment
  • gradual allocation of independent areas of responsibility
  • an exciting department that has merged with the surgical department. The department is characterized by very high professionalism, strong multidisciplinary teams, and a good collaborative climate between all professional groups
  • staff‑driven leadership with a focus on a good working environment.

We are looking for in you as a colleague

  • specialist in anesthesiology
  • interest in anesthesia and postoperative care for complex heart-lung and vascular surgical procedures
  • willingness and ability to weigh and prioritize good multidisciplinary collaboration
  • interest in teaching bedside and theory for nurses and HU doctors
