About the job

Would you like to make a difference for children and young people who have had difficulty finding their place at school? Do you believe that development is created through relationships, trust and close collaboration with the child/young person, the family and the professionals around them?

Then perhaps you are the person we are looking for for our school offering Vest in Glostrup Municipality.

We are seeking two academically strong, engaged and flexible teachers who are willing to think about teaching in new ways. One position is in our upper grades team, while the other is in our lower and middle grades group.

An school offering with a focus on possibilities

Vest is part of the overall Special Area in Glostrup Municipality and is operated in close collaboration with the Family Department.

Our pupils are children and young people who, for various reasons, have experienced significant difficulties in participating in the school community. Several have substantial or long-term school absences behind them, and their needs, prerequisites and challenges are very different.

We believe that everyone does their best with the prerequisites and within the framework they have.

Therefore we meet the children and young people with a resource-oriented view, curiosity and a fundamental belief that everyone can develop when the right conditions are in place.

All teaching is planned individually based on the individual pupil's competences, interests, motivation and academic prerequisites.

Our task is not only about academic learning, but also about helping the children and young people to regain trust in the school, the adults and not least their own possibilities to succeed.

We succeed through collaboration – with the child and the family as active participants

In Vest we believe that the best and most lasting changes are created in collaboration.

Therefore close collaboration with families and the active involvement of the child or the young person are fundamental to our work.

We do not merely work for the child/young person and the family, but together with them. Their perspectives, experiences and wishes are crucial when we need to understand the challenges, find the opportunities and create meaningful development.

As a teacher you participate in a close and egalitarian cross-professional collaboration with social educators from the Family Department, where we together take joint responsibility for a holistic effort around the individual student.

Every three weeks, the child or young person, the family and all relevant professional staff meet for fixed change meetings. Here we evaluate progress, listen to each other's perspectives and jointly adjust goals and actions so that we always work in a direction that makes sense for the child or the young person.

It requires that you as a teacher are strong in your professional field, but also open, listening and willing to adjust your own practice as part of the shared responsibility.

Two positions – different professional profiles

Teacher for the upper grades team

We are seeking a teacher with strong subject-didactic competencies who can teach and guide students up to the completion of the public school final exams.

You must be able to work purposefully with academic progression and at the same time be open to the idea that the path to learning and exam taking can differ greatly from student to student.

Teacher for the lower and middle grades group

We are seeking a teacher who can teach a wide range of subjects and who thrives on working creatively, flexibly and cross-disciplinary.

You must be able to create safe and motivating learning environments where teaching is based on the students' individual prerequisites, and where small successes and the sense of mastery have great significance.

Who are you?

We imagine that you

  • Are a trained teacher with solid subject and didactic foundation.
  • Have an appreciative and resource-oriented view of children and young people.
  • Are strong in relationship-building and can create trust, even when it takes time and persistence.
  • See the child or young person and the family as central collaboration partners.
  • Desire close and committed cross-professional collaboration.
  • Can work independently, flexibly and creatively with individually tailored teaching.
  • Are curious, reflective and willing to try new approaches when something does not succeed.
  • Thrive in a daily life where not everything can be planned in advance.

Flexibility is an important part of the assignment

Work in Vest differs from a traditional teaching position.

The positions require a high degree of flexibility – both in the execution of work and in the planning of working hours.

The students' needs and opportunities for participation vary, and that means teaching, tasks and working hours must be adaptable to the concrete task.

You must therefore be willing to think beyond the traditional timetable and be prepared that the path to development sometimes requires us to do things differently.

In return, you will have the opportunity to bring your teaching professionalism into play in new, creative and meaningful ways.

What do we offer?

We offer meaningful and varied work, where you have the opportunity to make a real difference for children, young people and their families.

You will become part of an engaged and academically strong cross-professional work community, where we work closely together, share our professional perspectives and continuously develop our practice.

With us there is room for professional reflection, creativity and new ideas, and you will have the opportunity to help shape a school offering where we insist on seeing possibilities – even when the way forward is not obvious.

Would you like to be a part of Vest?

We do not expect you to have all the answers in advance. But we do expect that you have the desire, professionalism and courage to find them together with the children, the young people, the families and your colleagues.

For us it is not about making the child fit into a predetermined frame, but about creating frameworks where the child has the opportunity to succeed.

We look forward to hearing from you.
