About the job

The Prehospital Service is seeking experienced ambulance clinicians, paramedics or nurses for the patient-visit vehicle in the Doctor's Nighttime Readiness in Herning, starting March 1, 2027.

Would you like to become part of one of the three emergency services that respond to home visits for citizens with acute non-life-threatening illness or injury during the night hours under the Doctor's Nighttime Readiness?

This is a relatively new regional function and task, where experienced ambulance clinicians, paramedics and nurses help to maintain and develop a completely new and exciting portfolio of duties within the prehospital area.

We are now looking for new colleagues for our unit in Herning, who can start on March 1, 2027 or by agreement. You will go through a training program before joining the operations.

You will have an exciting position in an active and challenging environment with good opportunities to develop the role and, not least, the regional function.

The patient-visit vehicles in the Doctor's Nighttime Readiness

As an employee in the patient-visit vehicles of the Doctor's Nighttime Readiness, you make home visits to citizens who have been triaged by doctors and nurses in the Doctor's Nighttime Readiness during the hours from 23:00–08:00.

Here you are responsible for conducting a competent and caring examination, assessment and treatment of the citizens. The tasks are carried out in consultation with doctors in the Doctor's Nighttime Readiness, which you conference with by telephone or video.

The patient-visit vehicles mainly handle subacute tasks, but you may also be assigned to selected time-critical conditions such as cardiac arrest together with an ambulance and an emergency ambulance.

The patient-visit vehicles operate single-handedly and handle home visits during the night hours 23:00-08:00 every day of the year.

Competence boost

The tasks in the Doctor's Nighttime Readiness are new for both paramedics, ambulance clinicians and nurses. We therefore prioritize that you as an employee receive a solid professional foundation to carry out the function. You can therefore look forward to a focused training program consisting of both theory and practice.

We prefer that you already have experience in the acute area. The training builds on this experience and will give you a fundamental understanding of the primary healthcare issues you will handle in the Doctor's Nighttime Readiness. It will also provide you with tools to examine, assess and treat the citizen in consultation with a doctor.

The instruction in the training is primarily provided by experienced specialists.

Possibility of a preferred position

You will be hired primarily for one shift per week. You will thus be part of a total team of 26 employees.

If you are ambulance-trained, you will have the opportunity to combine night-shift duties in the Doctor's Nighttime Readiness with shifts on one of the Prehospital Service’s ambulances (12-hour shifts). The collective agreement also allows you to combine the position with a 24-hour on-call role.

If you are a nurse, you will be employed by concrete agreement in combination with other clinical functions.

There are good opportunities for individual solutions, where you have influence over the final composition of your position.

If you apply for the nurse position, it is possible to combine the field work with shifts as a triage nurse.

Your profile

  • You are a trained ambulance clinician, paramedic or nurse.
  • You have professional grounding and experience with acute illness or injury (e.g., prehospital, in-hospital or in municipal settings).
  • You are keen to apply your professional skills in new ways and contribute to the development of the prehospital sector.
  • You have an interest in the subacute patient.
  • You are good at communicating and collaborating across professional groups and across the organization.
  • You have a good and reassuring appearance and conduct in meetings with citizens.

Ambulance personnel must have driving licence category B and C. Nurses must have driving licence category B.

Criminal record and child records will be obtained.

Info Evening

We hold an information meeting on Thursday, 5 November from 16:30 – 18:00 at Olof Palmes Alle 34, 8200 Aarhus N.

Here you have the opportunity to hear more about the Doctor's Nighttime Readiness and the different functions. There is also a chance to see a patient-visit vehicle.

Registration must be done via email: [email protected]

Your new workplace

You will be employed by the Prehospital Service. You will have primary affiliation to the base at Knudsvej in Herning. However, you should expect to travel to tasks across the region, regardless of place of employment.

Salary and employment terms in accordance with the applicable collective agreement with FOA (ambulance personnel) or DSR (nurses).

How to apply

You can easily apply for the position via the link "send application" at the bottom of the page. You will be asked to fill in contact details and attach a motivated application and an updated CV.

Please describe your preferences for job combinations in your application.

We are also seeking new colleagues for our patient-visit vehicles in Aarhus and Randers. If you are interested in employment at more than one location, you are welcome to indicate this in your application. You will find the job advertisements on the Prehospital Service's website .

Application deadline 8 January 2027. Interviews will be held on Wednesday 19 January 2027.
