About the job

Would you like to help ensure that stormwater and sewage projects have a solid regulatory basis – from the initial clarifications to the necessary applications, permits and exemptions? And do you have experience with environmental law, authority dialogue and permit processes? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for. Our project portfolio is growing, and we are seeking an authority specialist who can translate complex frameworks into clear applications, well-founded permits and good solutions for both customers and authorities. Create solutions for a better future

We are looking for an authority specialist who can help our projects safely from idea to realization. You will become a central advisor in the work with authority applications, permits, exemptions and environmental assessments – and you will play an important role in the dialogue between customers, project specialists and the country’s authorities.

You will be part of our Water and Climate Adaptation department with 170 skilled and dedicated colleagues distributed across offices nationwide. Regardless of where you base yourself, you will become part of a nationwide professional environment for sewage and authorities, where we work closely together, spar and share knowledge across. You will also collaborate with our specialists in hydraulics, nature, streams, environmental assessment and recipient conditions, so applications and permits are academically strong.

What you will influence

You are the one who creates an overview of requirements, risks and process steps – and ensures that the projects have the regulatory basis that makes it possible to safely move from idea to realization.

Your responsibilities

As an authority specialist you ensure that our projects have the necessary regulatory basis. You create an overview of requirements, processes and dependencies, prepare and quality assure application materials and contribute to permits being obtained on a well-founded and realistic basis.

Your primary tasks will be

  • Prepare authority applications and contribute to permits, e.g., connection and discharge permits for larger infrastructure projects, utility tasks and private developers.
  • Prepare and quality assure application materials so that they are professionally solid, thoroughly developed and targeted to the authority's processing
  • Contribute to environmental assessments in collaboration with relevant subject specialists in COWI
  • Identify authority needs and structure authority plans across project phases
  • Engage in dialogue with customers, municipalities, utilities and other authorities to ensure the best possible process and solution
  • Collaborate with project managers and discipline specialists on environmental legislation, framework conditions and authority risks

Your profile

You have a strong interest in authority work in the wastewater and environmental field and thrive on creating structure in complex processes. You understand the framework of the law, see connections between technology, environment and authority requirements and can translate input from discipline specialists into clear and decision-ready application materials.

We imagine that you

  • Have experience with authority applications and/or permits from municipality, utility, client, developer or consultant
  • Have worked with connection and discharge permits – or are keen to specialize in the area
  • Have knowledge of water quality and various treatment facilities
  • Have knowledge of environmental legislation, particularly the wastewater regulations and relevant rules for discharges, recipients and stormwater and wastewater
  • Understand municipal processes, authority handling and the interaction between project, planning and permits
  • Communicate clearly and professionally – both in writing and orally – and can build trust in dialogue with customers and authorities

Therefore, you should choose us

  • You will have a central role in getting complex stormwater and wastewater projects safely through the authority processes.
  • You work closely with specialists in hydraulics, nature, streams, environmental assessment and recipient conditions.
  • You have the opportunity to develop as a specialist in a field where demand for strong authority advice is growing.

We offer an exciting job with high professionalism, great responsibility and the opportunity to influence authority work in some of the country’s most important stormwater and wastewater projects. You will be part of an open and informal work environment, where we value engagement, integrity, collaboration and professional sparring.

At COWI we focus on flexibility and on ensuring that work life and everyday life can hang together. Our way of working allows for working from home when tasks permit. In addition, we offer good employment terms, health insurance, canteen scheme, coffee and fruit arrangement, massage scheme, staff association and access to a range of corporate agreements.
