About Græshoppen

Græshoppen is a self-governing pool institution in Virum with a clear sports profile. With us, we want sport and movement not to be an activity alongside the pedagogical work, but an integrated part of our everyday life and our way of working with children’s well-being, formation, development, learning and communities.

We focus on ensuring that children experience the joy of moving and being active. Health, movement, good meals and outdoor life are natural parts of our pedagogical practice.

We are a house with dedicated staff, active parents and a strong desire to continue developing our professional practice and culture.

Your task

As the leader you will have the overall responsibility for staff, pedagogical quality, finances and daily operations.

You should be a visible and present leader who is close to children, staff and the pedagogical practice. You should be able to set a clear professional direction while at the same time creating followership through trust, involvement and freedom with responsibility.

You will among other things be responsible for

• develop Græshoppen’s pedagogical and sports-professional profile focusing on movement, health, well-being, community and good meals
• create high pedagogical quality through professional sparring, feedback and competence development
• create well-being and a strong working environment and be a leader who can both support, challenge and set expectations
• handle conflicts and difficult conversations and make the necessary decisions
• ensure structure, overview and a healthy economy
• have an eye for both daily operations and the long-term development of the institution
• create a trusting and professional collaboration with the parents.

Parents are an important part of Græshoppen

Parents entrust us with what is most important to them – their children. Therefore it is crucial that our leader can build trust, openness and good relationships with the parents.

You should be accessible and listening, but also clear when the situation requires it. You should be able to handle both the good dialogue and the difficult conversations and see the parents as important partners around each child.

At the same time we see the parents as an important resource for Græshoppen and as ambassadors for the institution in the local community.

We are looking for a leader who

• has solid leadership experience from early childhood education and preferably experience from a self-governing or pool institution
• has strong pedagogical expertise and preferably experience with sports and movement pedagogy
• is clear, robust and relation-oriented and can stay calm in a complex everyday life
• can create direction and followers without being controlling
• has an eye for the different competencies of staff and can actively involve them
• can balance presence and clarity, freedom and responsibility as well as demands and care
• has the courage to take the leadership responsibility and make decisions
• has financial understanding and can prioritize resources based on the core task
• is structured, proactive and good at following up
• has strong communication skills and can build good relationships with children, staff, parents and partners
• is curious, self-reflective and has a sense of humor
• can maintain overview and energy when everyday life is under pressure.

We imagine a leader who can lead from the front, stand firm and give space – and who wants to be part of creating a great place to be for both children and adults.

A close collaboration about Græshoppen

As a leader you will become part of a close collaboration with the board and especially with our externally appointed chairperson of the board.

We see the board as an active collaboration partner for the leader and place emphasis on an open, trusting and professional dialogue about the institution’s development, finances and operations.

You do not stand alone with the leadership task. You will have the opportunity to spar with the chair and at the same time be part of a strong professional leadership network through Børneringen.

The institution is affiliated with the umbrella organization Børneringen, and as leader you will join a strong leadership network with about 120 leadership colleagues, just as you can always rely on Børneringen’s consultants for payroll, accounting, personnel law, psychologist services and leadership advisory.
