About the job

Do you want to lead one of Stevns Municipality's largest construction projects?

Do you want to project manage a large and complex coastal protection project that will have implications for both residents, the local community and the development of Stevns Municipality for many years to come?

We are looking for a skilled project manager who can drive our coastal protection project at Strøby Egede and Strøby Ladeplads safely forward from planning and authorities handling to design, procurement and construction.

The coastal protection project is one of Stevns Municipality's major strategic projects and has significant political attention. It concerns protecting one of the municipality's largest residential areas from flooding and erosion – while at the same time finding solutions that take into account nature, landscape and the area's recreational qualities.

You will therefore not only have the responsibility for a large construction project. You will play a central role in a project where technology, finances, authorities processes, citizen dialogue and political decisions must go hand in hand.

You take over a project that is well under way

You are not starting from scratch. Many essential steps have already been taken. A concept proposal has been prepared and has been politically treated, there is funding secured from the state coastal fund, and work is being done on the project's cost sharing in dialogue with the affected citizens and property owners associations.

Your task will be to carry the project forward and ensure direction, coherence and momentum toward realisation.

As project manager you will be responsible for the overall overview of the project's many strands and become the daily driving force ensuring progress and coherence. You will work closely with external advisors, the municipality's professional staff and other cooperation partners and ensure that decisions are translated into action.

Your responsibility

You will be responsible for steering the project from the current planning and authorities phase through design and procurement and onward to the construction phase.

What this means include

  • ensure progress and manage the project's finances, timeline, quality and risks
  • coordinate collaboration with advisors, contractors, authorities and the municipality's own professional areas
  • drive procurement and contract processes in close cooperation with the municipality's other professional centers
  • ensure coherence between design, authorities handling, consultations and other necessary processes
  • ensure ongoing reporting and a solid decision basis for the project's steering committee, the municipality's management and the political level.

An important part of the task is also the dialogue with citizens, landowners and landowner associations. There are strong interests at stake, and the solutions have real implications for many people.

You must therefore be able to create an open and trustful dialogue and convey complex technical, financial and legal issues clearly and understandably.

Who are you?

We are primarily looking for an experienced project manager who can take responsibility for a large and complex project and drive it safely forward.

You have solid experience with project management of large construction or infrastructure projects and are used to working with finances, timelines, risks and many simultaneous stakeholders.

Your educational background could be, for example, engineer, land surveyor, geographer or another relevant advanced education. For us, your experience in driving complex projects and delivering results is more important than your specific educational background.

You work structured and analytical, have impact and can maintain an overview, even when new problems arise along the way.

At the same time you understand that a project like this does not succeed solely through good project management. It requires relationships, dialogue and the ability to navigate between different interests.

You must therefore communicate confidently and respectfully with citizens, politicians, advisors, authorities and colleagues and be able to translate complex issues into clear decision proposals.

It is an advantage if you have experience with coastal protection projects, knowledge of the Coastal Protection Act and authorities processes. Experience from a politically led organisation would also be an advantage.

A stronger organizational anchoring

The coastal protection project has great significance for Stevns Municipality, and we want to strengthen the leadership anchoring and progress of the project. Organizationally you will as a rule be placed in the Center for Technology & Environment with direct reporting to the center manager.

You will work closely with the project's steering group and professionals across the municipality – including natural resources, environment, planning, economy, law and communications. And you will have a significant role in involving and ensuring cross-functional coordination between the necessary professional resources.

It gives you a position with a short path to managerial decisions, while at the same time you have access to the many different professional disciplines necessary to succeed with a project of this size and complexity.

We offer

You will be responsible for a socially important project with great political attention and significance for many residents. At the same time you will become part of a municipality with short decision-making paths, where there is an opportunity to take responsibility and have real influence on how tasks are solved.

The position is a permanent full-time position at 37 hours per week with the possibility of flexible working arrangements and home office.

Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and principles of local pay formation. The salary level is expected to be approximately 48-52,000 DKK per month excluding pension.
