About the job

WE HAVE MOVED TO KØGE

On Sunday, October 4, 2026, our department moved to the new super-hospital in Køge. It is a truly exciting and educational process, which we hope you would like to be a part of. We are all “new,” and together we will get used to new premises and new ways of working.

You will become part of the M department, where we provide care and treatment for patients with Myeloma, acute leukemia and benign hematological diseases. When you step into our ward, you will feel the pride in our profession and how dedicated both the new and the experienced are to delivering the best possible nursing care for our patients and their relatives.

Development of nursing as well as having the courage to think new for the benefit of the patients, the relatives, the organization, each other and ourselves is a major part of our everyday life. We are greatly inspired by action learning and work from a person-centered approach. Which means that we manage to get right into the life and illness of each individual in context. It is therefore not uncommon to follow a patient from admission to their last time.

The specialty and the department hold indescribably many opportunities for learning and competence development both professionally and personally, and it also opens up good opportunities for further education. Everyone , regardless of function and position, can contribute to developing, changing and improving nursing care.

We value a culture-bearing work environment where there is room for everyone. Questions and reflections are part of our daily life. There can never be too many of them. You can follow both our professional and social daily life on our Instagram profile: @haematologiskafsnit.m_suh.

Onboarding – introduction to hematology

  • A 1-year individually tailored Onboarding Program with a mentorship scheme. It is a training period that is best tailored to your competencies and learning goals. We start from what experience you bring with you, as well as which competencies you need to develop and further develop with us. The first 4 weeks you will be accompanied by your mentor in all shift times.

“I am thrilled with how I have been taken care of as a newcomer. Never before have I looked forward to going to work this much. It feels as if I have always been part of the team, it is so cool to be valued as a current colleague” - [Nurse Malthe]

Possibility for endless development

  • Be part of a interests group within your area of interest, e.g. Acute Nursing, Palliative Care, Nutrition, HDT, etc.
  • Training in all department functions including our outpatient clinic and day department.
  • Training in handling CVK and placing PVK, including ultrasound-guided PVK.
  • Training in HDT and CAR-T
  • A highly prioritized learning environment with three hematology core courses.
  • Annual SKILLS day.
  • Course in medical cancer treatment, consisting of a theoretical E-learning course and practical training in handling chemotherapy along the way and finally a practical training day.
  • Training in daily functions, e.g. ward rounds, medication handling, etc.

“As something new, new nurses begin ward rounds on 1-2 patients after 4 weeks. It was a bit nerve-wracking at first. But it is so cool. It is incredibly educational to be in a pair with an experienced doctor, whom you can ask about anything. It has really made and continues to make a difference for my learning curve” – [Nurse Oliver]

Co-creating culture and focus on an evolving and learning work environment

  • Interdisciplinary conferences, nursing meetings, cross-disciplinary ward rounds, etc.
  • Coworkers, both monodisciplinary and interdisciplinary, who are passionate about the specialty and who all feel that we have a duty to contribute to the core task and the social community.
  • A caring and trusting psychological work environment, where we highly value well-being, dialogue and social interaction. If needed, we have supervision with the hospital chaplain and/or psychologist.
  • We are very conscious about combining professionalism and having fun together both during and outside working hours. We place great importance on social interaction being in place, and it is nice to come to work.

We hope you have been enticed to apply for a position with us. Hematology experience is helpful but not a prerequisite to apply. The most important thing is that you want to learn the specialty. We will figure out the rest together.

We wish to fill the position by November 1 or December 2026. The position includes weekend work every 3rd weekend and 37 hours per week, but feel free to propose an alternative if you have another preference in terms of hours. If you are an evening or night owl and would prefer a fixed or primarily evening or night shifts, that is also clearly possible.

If you would like to come by and see the department, have any questions or the like, or would like to meet the staff, please do not hesitate to contact us; we would be happy to offer you a cup of coffee!

We hope to hear from you.
