Activation

What does it mean?

Activation is a collective term for employment-promotion measures that the job centre offers or requires for unemployed citizens. The aim is to help you move closer to ordinary employment by strengthening your skills, providing work experience or clarifying your job options.

Common activation offers include: company internship (virksomhedspraktik), wage subsidy jobs (løntilskud), job clarification programmes, education and training courses, and work practice.

Participation can be mandatory if the job centre assesses it as necessary for your return to work. Refusing a reasonable activation offer without good reason can lead to benefit sanctions or suspension of unemployment benefits.

Activation should be relevant to your qualifications and the labour market. You can discuss suitable options with your job centre adviser and your a-kasse.
