Professional competencies

What does it mean?

Professional competencies (faglige kompetencer) are the technical and domain-specific skills needed to perform a particular job: e.g. accounting standards for auditors, programming languages for developers, clinical procedures for nurses.

CVs and job postings often distinguish professional competencies from personal competencies (soft skills) and methodological competencies (transferable methods).

List professional competencies concretely: software, regulations, equipment, techniques and certifications. Match the job posting's terminology where truthful.

Develop professional competencies through education, on-the-job training, certifications and projects. Labour market trends — digitalisation, green transition — continuously shift which competencies are in demand.
