Resignation / termination
What does it mean?
Opsigelse covers both employee resignation and employer dismissal in Danish usage — context clarifies direction. Employment ends after notice period or by mutual agreement/summary dismissal.
Employee resignation requires observing notice in contract or law. Voluntary resignation without good cause may trigger benefit quarantine (karens) if unemployed immediately after.
Employer dismissal must be objectively justified (funktionærloven) or follow collective agreement rules. Unfair dismissal can be challenged via union or courts within deadlines.
On termination: negotiate exit terms (reference, garden leave, unused holiday payout), return company property, transfer knowledge and maintain professional relationships.
