Personal competencies

What does it mean?

Personal competencies (personlige kompetencer) describe behavioural and interpersonal qualities: cooperation, independence, stress tolerance, empathy, integrity and adaptability.

Job postings list them because technical skills alone rarely predict workplace success. Danish employers emphasise flat hierarchies and teamwork — personal competencies matter.

Demonstrate with STAR examples (Situation, Task, Action, Result) in interviews and brief evidence in CVs. Avoid long lists of adjectives without proof.

Balance personal competencies with professional skills — "team player" plus concrete delivery outcomes is stronger than either alone.
