Strategic

What does it mean?

Strategic (strategisk) competency is the ability to think long term, connect daily work to organisational goals and make decisions considering broader context and future consequences.

Job postings use it for management, consulting, product, marketing and business development roles. Evidence includes: business plans contributed to, market analyses, multi-year projects and organisational change led.

Pair strategic thinking with execution — "strategic but not operational" is a common criticism. Show you implement plans, not only design them.

In interviews, discuss how you prioritised under resource constraints and measured strategic outcomes.
