Company internship

What does it mean?

Company internship (virksomhedspraktik) places unemployed people at a host company for a limited period (often 4–12 weeks) to gain practical experience. Arranged through job centre activation; host pays no salary but may provide allowance via public funding.

Internship must be supervised, relevant to labour market and not replace paid employees. It should strengthen your CV and network toward paid employment afterward.

Participation may be mandatory if offered appropriately. Document tasks, skills learned and contacts for references. Convert internship into job offers by performing well and expressing interest early.

Internship is not regular employment — rights differ. Clarify expectations, hours and insurance coverage with job centre and host before starting.
