Head of Department in the upper school at Karensmindeskolen

As we reorganize in the management team, as of 1 January we are looking for a head of department in the upper school.

Karensmindeskolen is divided into early years, lower/middle, and upper grades/10th grade, and as department head you have both the responsibility to run and develop the department you lead and to help ensure the throughline through the whole school, so that we as an organisation work in the same direction and are a cohesive unit. You should be ambitious on behalf of yourself and the community, so that together we can support our staff and create the best conditions for all our students.

In the leadership team we are focused on further developing initiatives and teaching to create participation opportunities for all children in the work with Rebild Municipality's Vision 2030. We are well underway in developing team collaboration to be the central element in the pedagogical and academic work, to work with problem-based learning (PBL) as well as to use learning conversations and feedback in team collaboration. In addition, we hold fast to Karensmindeskolen's proud traditions and activities during the school year and like to work creatively, practically and musically.

As head of the upper school you will be the immediate leader of our talented and engaged teachers in the department. You shall, together with your staff, further develop the work with year groups and team collaboration and lead the network meetings and the follow-up work related to this. You will work closely with the department's coordinator.

In the upper school you also have responsibility for

• Term tests and final exams
• Junior Master Apprentice (Juniormesterlære) in collaboration with the school's coordinator
• A close collaboration with the upper school's middle-form Study Hall.

You will experience a high level of engagement from the parent group and a school board with parent-elected members who are close to and work to do the best for the school and thus for all our students. We are happy about that and expect the same from you. It is therefore essential that, as a leader, you are able to create room for a safe and honest dialogue with parents.

Your profile

• You are trained as a teacher, have leadership experience and a leadership qualification at diploma level or similar
• You place collaboration in the leadership team and administration high on the agenda with a view to an overall school and a common direction
• You prioritize pedagogical development and well-being among staff and students highly
• You can navigate in a busy and complex everyday life, where you often experience unforeseen tasks while also performing administrative tasks and being a leader 'close to' the work
• You are clear and open in your communication both internally and externally
• You have overview and are good at following cases through to the end

As a head of department in Rebild Municipality you are not only part of your local management team. As a smaller municipality we strive to have close cooperation with each other across the schools. You can thus expect to get to know your leadership colleagues at the other schools and to participate in various external meetings.

Karensmindeskolen is located in Støvring close to the E45 and easily accessible from both the south- and northbound directions.
