About the job

Do you want to lead the establishment of a new citizen-centred health service and make your mark on the future of local health care?

As a result of the Health Reform, the health and care facilities will transition to regional operation from January 1, 2027. The task will be anchored at North Zealand Hospital in a new organizational unit under the Department of Elderly and Multimorbidity.

In Hillerød, the 27 citizen-centred health and care spaces are being established at Milnersvej 37D, 3400 Hillerød, where the municipal temporary placements are located today, and we are seeking a ward manager who wants to be involved from the very beginning.

This is a special opportunity for you who are motivated by both leadership and development. You will not only take responsibility for day-to-day operations, but you will become a central player in supporting culture, collaboration, workflows and professional identity in close cooperation with employees, citizens, relatives and partners.

You will be part of a historic transformation in the health system, where more health tasks are moved closer to the citizens. The aim is to create cohesive, safe and dignified pathways for citizens with complex health and care needs through strong collaboration between hospital, municipalities and general practice.

About the position

At the citizen-centred health and care spaces, we meet citizens with complex health and care needs in often vulnerable stages of life. This may include citizens needing rehabilitation, treatment and stabilization or palliative care at the end of life. A common thread for the citizen pathways is the need for high professional quality, interdisciplinary collaboration and a holistic approach that creates security, coherence and dignity for both citizens and relatives.

As ward manager you will be responsible for a ward with 27 beds and for leading a multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, social and health care assistants, therapists, a pharmaconomist and housekeeping assistants. You will not be alone with the task, but will be part of a strong community with access to competencies in shift planning, administration, quality and development work as well as HR and finance.

In the initial period, a substantial part of your task will be to contribute to the establishment of the ward. You will among other things help to:

  • create a common culture and identity for the new workplace
  • support onboarding and competency development of staff
  • develop strong interdisciplinary collaborations
  • translate the department's visions and values into concrete practice
  • ensure quality, structure and coherence in the citizen pathways
  • establish sustainable workflows with a focus on high professional quality and good resource use
  • actively contribute to the development of the overall citizen health and care spaces across locations

At the same time you have overall responsibility for personnel, professional standards, operations, work environment, quality and development in the ward.

Your leadership role

As a leader you will play a central role in creating the framework for employees to succeed with the core task. You are a visible and approachable leader who creates direction, following and results through dialogue, involvement and clear expectations.

You focus on ensuring that the quality of the interaction with the citizen is closely linked to the well-being, competence development and work environment of the staff. You actively work to develop strong professional communities and a culture characterized by care, consideration, collaboration and learning.

As ward manager you will become part of the department's overall management team and collaborate closely with the Chief Nurse, Chief Physician, other ward managers and central partners across hospital, municipality and general practice.

You will not be alone with the task, but will be part of a strong leadership community with access to competencies in shift planning, administration, quality and development work, HR and finance. This gives you good prerequisites to focus on leadership, staff development and high quality in the service for citizens and relatives.

We are looking for a leader who

  • are motivated to build, develop and create something new together with the staff
  • have strong relational skills and build followership through dialogue, trust and clarity
  • are action-oriented and development-focused, while being present and listening in your leadership style
  • have a view for both people, professionalism, operations and quality
  • see citizens and relatives as important partners and understand the importance of creating safe and dignified pathways
  • can translate strategic ambitions into concrete actions and results
  • thrive in interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaborations
  • can create structure and overview in an organization under development
  • have a relevant health-related education
  • have experience with personnel leadership and practice-oriented professional leadership
  • preferably hold a relevant leadership qualification

We offer

  • a unique opportunity to participate in establishing and shaping a new health service
  • great influence on the development of culture, professionalism and collaboration
  • a strong leadership community with professional sparring and close collaboration
  • engaged and competent staff with high professional standards
  • good opportunities for leadership development and competency development
  • opportunity to make a substantial mark on the future of local health care
