About the job

In the Strategy, Economy & Labour Market Administration's staff we are looking for a professionally strong colleague who is willing to get right into the engine room where policy, economics and organization intersect, and who thrives on taking responsibility in the gaps that arise in a large organization.

About the position

In the Strategy, Economy & Labour Market Administration we help ensure the council has a solid basis for making financial decisions. A central task for you will be to coordinate the annual budget process in close collaboration with the director, the city’s chief financial officer and the budget department. You will be responsible for creating coherence between political ambitions, organizational possibilities and financial considerations across the professional administrations, the executive and the political committees.

Specifically you will

  • obtain budget contributions from the departmental administrations and keep track of deliveries and deadlines
  • coordinate with the budget department, which is responsible for the financial qualification, while you are responsible for process, coherence and communication
  • prepare clear briefs/presentations that the director can use in the executive and the political committees.

The budget process will be an important part of your work, but not the only one. As a consultant in the staff, you will also contribute to the team's tasks by writing policy papers, facilitating processes, coordinating cross-cutting projects, refining the decision basis and making briefs and presentations for the director.

You will have a broad role where tasks are rarely predefined in advance. Often there are many people involved, different considerations at play and no one who alone owns the task. You must be able to see what is missing to move forward. Who should talk to whom, what information is missing, and which decisions must be made. And you must have the desire to take responsibility for tying the threads together so that things actually happen.

About you

You probably have experience with management support and governance in a politically led organization. The most important is that you have strong collaboration skills and the professional ballast and judgment required to work independently with complex cases.

We particularly value that you

  • have a fundamental understanding of economics and can find solutions with regard to economic and governance considerations
  • have organizational and political acumen and can decode interests, considerations and possible actions
  • have an analytical eye, can identify patterns and can distinguish the essential from the non-essential
  • can convey complex messages clearly and precisely in both written and spoken form
  • work independently, are initiative-taking and see tasks that do not yet have a clear owner
  • can create relationships and make cross-functional collaboration work.

You do not need to know all the answers in advance. But you must be curious enough to find them and have the courage to take action before others have described the task for you.

About us

The Economy & Labour Market Administration has the overall responsibility for the municipality's economy, IT and employment efforts. You will be employed in Strategy & Leadership Support in the Economy & Labour Market Administration's staff. The team reports to the head of staff.

In the team we ensure strong executive support for the two political committees, the director and managers across the administration's areas. We are an office where we back one another and trust each other. We have an informal tone and a culture where there is room for humor, even when we are busy. We value both independence and collaboration and are good at sparring and coordinating, so we succeed in both.

The position is expected to start on 1 December 2026. The application deadline is 25 October 2026 at 23:59, and we expect to hold interviews on Wednesday 28 October and Thursday 29 October.

You can obtain more information by contacting the head of staff Sarah Yde Junge at tel. 23 27 93 56 or email [email protected] .
