Anesthesia nurse sought for the Ærø Hospital Unit, OUH Svendborg Hospital

The Ærø Hospital Department is looking for an experienced anesthesiology nurse for a permanent position with start on January 1, 2027.

The position is 37 hours per week and is organized with standby duty in connection with efficient service. The shift planning is done in consideration of the applicable rules on working hours and rest periods at all times.

A little about the Ærø Hospital Department

The Ærø Hospital Department is beautifully located in scenic surroundings in Ærøskøbing close to the harbor with good ferry connections to Svendborg. Ærø is located in the middle of the South Funen Archipelago, where there are plenty of leisure activities such as sailing, kayaking and golf.

The Ærø Hospital Department has 9 beds including 1 telemedicine hospice bed, an outpatient clinic, emergency department/ reception, a laboratory, radiology department, doctor on call, as well as several regional, municipal & private partners very close by.

From January 1, 2027, 4 new health and care placements will be established, and the regional emergency nursing care will also be handled by nurses employed at the hospital.

The Ærø Hospital Department serves the island's just under 6,000 residents as well as the approximately 300,000 tourists who visit the island each year. The staff are trained in trauma reception, cardiac arrest treatment, acute medical treatment, treatment of chronic illness and end-of-life care.

The hospital has approximately 900 admissions and about 2,000 outpatient treatments annually.

The hospital is one of Ærø’s largest employers with about 45 employees and has existed since 1891.

Primary tasks of the anesthesiology nurse

• Responsible for the anesthesia team at the hospital
• Responsible for, in collaboration with the hospital physician, evaluating and stabilizing the critically ill patient based on ABDCE
• Preparation for patient transport and escort to HEMS/SAR
• Admission of acute patients in collaboration with the hospital's other staff.
• Treatment of patients in the designated emergency department and outpatient clinic, where part of the tasks include planned medical treatments, infusions and transfusions, carried out by delegation from OUH specialty departments.
• Responsible for the blood depot
• ECG, blood sampling and execution of acute analyses during shifts.
• Collaboration with the on-call doctor

There are no longer surgeries at the hospital, so your tasks and areas of responsibility are diverse compared to other hospitals. You must be prepared to solve a wide range of cross-disciplinary tasks during your shifts

We are seeking an anesthesiology nurse

• who has a broad background and several years of experience with acute medicine and preferably experience from the emergency department/outpatient clinic
• who can work independently and maintain an overview in acute/pressurized situations

As an anesthesiology nurse you are the only anesthesiology nurse on duty.

You report to the hospital from 08:00-15:00 and the remaining time of the day is a standby shift from a duty housing located on the hospital campus. We have a 10-minute call.

Salary and employment terms

Payment is in accordance with the collective agreement with DSR and the position is covered by local pay formation. Therefore a comprehensive CV is important.

NOTE

All anesthesiology nurses at Ærø Hospital must regularly maintain the anesthesiology competencies. At a minimum 4 days annually at Svendborg in the anesthesiology department.
