About Active Everyday, Rehabilitation and Public Health

We are more than 35 employees in our department, with the easy-to-pronounce name ”Active Everyday, Rehabilitation and Public Health” in Odder Health House. We work across disciplines between physiotherapists and occupational therapists, nurses, social and health care workers, dietitian and public health developer.

The department sees many patient groups: rehabilitation after, for example, orthopedic surgery, neurological – and geriatric problems among others. We offer everyday rehabilitation and have health-promoting and preventive services for citizens. We also offer training for children in connection with the Child and Family Center.

We also handle patient-directed prevention for people with chronic disease such as COPD, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer. We are in the midst of an exciting development with the implementation of the health reform and the new chronic disease packages.

We also handle citizen-targeted prevention, including smoking cessation programs and preventive conversations about alcohol.

We focus on supporting the citizen’s own knowledge, competencies and skills, so that the citizen can take responsibility for maintaining and promoting their own health and functional ability. We work based on the principle of equality in health. We target the interventions to the individual person.

The focal point for assessing the citizen’s needs is the clarifying conversation, which is based on the citizen’s disease, risk factors, function and daily life. The assessment is supplemented by an evaluation of the citizen’s health competencies, just as involvement of relatives is an important factor.
