About the job

Does your job satisfaction grow when you see your and your colleagues' efforts make a positive difference for our patients? Then you should apply for a position with us.

About Receiving Unit D3

Unit D3 is a closed acute receiving unit that admits patients who need rapid and intensive nursing care, observation and treatment. We have space for 16 patients, which we receive around the clock, often with challenging and complex psychiatric and somatic problems. Our catchment area consists of 8 municipalities on the Copenhagen West Coast, as well as a district of Copenhagen.

Treatment and nursing are planned based on a recovery-oriented approach. We involve the patient and their relatives to create an individualized, safe and good inpatient course. We work with Safewards and cognitive behavioral therapy in the treatment.

Your tasks

As a nurse with us, relationship work will be your core task. You will plan the treatment and care of the patients based on each patient’s individual needs and wishes.

You will, in close collaboration with your interdisciplinary colleagues, work with calming methods and de-escalation techniques. And you will work milieutherapeutically and with meaningful activities tailored to the individual patient’s needs for structure and predictability in daily life.

Your tasks will include

  • Take on the contact person function for 2-4 patients
  • Observe, document and describe somatic as well as psychiatric symptoms and interventions
  • Create trusting relationships with our patients and work de-escalating in challenging situations
  • Contribute to a calm and safe environment where structure and presence are essential

We offer

  • Good colleagues. You will become part of a cohesive and versatile staff group that is very good at integrating new people into the community. We span a wide range in age and experience, but what unites us all is that we are engaged in our work with a vulnerable patient group.
  • Good opportunities for further education. We highly prioritize the course “Getting Started in Psychiatry,” as well as advanced training. If you are interested in the specialist training in psychiatric nursing, that is also an option.
  • A good working environment. We actively work to reduce coercion with a strong focus on safety and security for staff and patients. We take maintenance training seriously and require all employees to participate.
  • Development of personal professional identity. Although we as a team focus on supporting and looking after each other, supervision is given high priority. It is intended to give each employee the opportunity to talk about and process the emotions that working with people entails, as well as to create an overview of one’s own practice and reflect on it.

Our expectations of you

  • You are a licensed nurse with an interest in acute psychiatry. If you have experience from the psychiatric specialty, that is an advantage. If you are newly graduated, this is not a barrier if you find acute psychiatry exciting.
  • You are skilled at building relationships , both with patients, relatives and professional collaborators. Several of our patients are returning patients, and here there is an opportunity to build a deeper relationship. You communicate in an empathetic, respectful and trust-building manner.
  • You prioritize professional development. You take initiative for your own learning and reflect on your own practice. With us, you will become adept at recognizing and observing psychiatric as well as somatic symptoms. You will identify issues for the individual patient, prioritize urgent needs and initiate nursing plans and treatment.
  • You thrive in a varied daily routine. We receive patients at all hours of the day, and we do not know in advance how complex their patient journeys will be.

Salary and terms of employment

Start on January 1, 2027 or by agreement.

The position is full-time, and you will be employed in mixed shifts with every other weekend work.

You will be employed under the collective agreement for non-supervisory staff in the Region’s Pay and Tariff Board area with salary placement as a nurse. You are during employment covered by the current working time agreement entered into between the Regions’ Pay and Tariff Board and the Danish Nurses Organization.

The acute ward is staffed around the clock, and you will therefore be scheduled with mixed shifts in accordance with the rules of the current working time agreement.
