About the job

Do you thrive with responsibility and professional challenges? Can you see yourself in a multidisciplinary community where the patient is at the center? And would you like to work with people who are mentally vulnerable? Then it might be you we’re looking for! We are currently seeking one nurse for a permanent position as of January 1, 2027 and one nurse for a maternity cover from January 1, 2027 – December 31, 2027.

The position is 32-37 hours in mixed shifts, mainly day/night with the option of choosing to work 8-hour shifts every other weekend or 12-hour shifts every third weekend.

About Ward P1

Ward P1 is a general psychiatric inpatient ward with an acute reception function for adults aged 18–69. The ward has both open and closed units and houses a total of 18 beds. P1 receives adult patients from the municipalities of Assens and Middelfart who need psychiatric assessment or treatment during admission. The ward is part of the Psychiatric Department Middelfart, which also includes forensic psychiatry and a ward for detainees.

P1 accepts patients with all types of psychiatric diagnoses and works with a focus on the core task. During admission, the course is planned in close collaboration with the patient, the relatives, and relevant partners.

The ward has a multidisciplinary staff group, with two permanent specialists and multidisciplinary collaborators attached. The goal is to create a coherent and professionally strong patient journey during the admission period. In addition, we are a training site for several professional groups, so we have a high flow of trainees.

What we are focused on?

We work purposefully to be a good workplace where well-being, psychological safety, and high professionalism are central. Our skilled staff daily create the best framework for the patients in close multidisciplinary collaboration with both internal and external partners.

We have strong collaboration with local psychiatry and housing facilities to ensure cohesive pathways, which means we rarely experience overcrowding.

Professionalism is part of the foundation of our work – we work systematically and focused and continually prioritize development, reflection, and sparring to ensure high quality and safe patient journeys.

All of this can become part of your world, and at the same time you will join a team where collaboration, integrity, and respect are important core values of our ward and our work.

We are looking for someone who

  • Is a trained nurse or a nurse with specialist training in psychiatric nursing
  • Has experience with people in crisis, though not a requirement.
  • Has clinical supervision training, or a desire to acquire it in the future.

We expect that you

  • Wish to and understand working with people in vulnerable periods of their lives

  • Can identify and handle nursing professional issues
  • Can maintain calm, act with resolve and professional judgment in pressurized situations
  • Can maintain an overview in a busy and unpredictable daily life
  • Can handle the role as person in charge both in your own and (in the future) other wards
  • Have an appreciative approach to both patients and colleagues

We offer

  • An everyday life in a busy ward, characterized by high professionalism and solid camaraderie
  • A ward where the patient is in focus
  • 4 weeks introductory program (8 weeks for newly graduated nurses) including a mentor scheme
  • An annual cycle with fixed teaching days, where you are prepared for work in psychiatry
  • 2 theme days annually
  • Daily reflection with your colleagues
