About the job

Do you want to help preserve and convey the Royal Danish Navy's more than 500 years of history?

We are looking for a dedicated and structured employee who wants to help drive and develop the Royal Danish Navy's Historical Collection.

Do you have a sense of order, enjoy working independently, and have basic IT skills? Then you might be our new colleague at the Garrison Element at the Korsør Naval Station.

About us

The Garrison Element is part of Korsør Naval Station and handles a wide range of tasks to support the garrison.

We are a team of competent and specialized employees with different professional backgrounds and tasks. We depend on each other to succeed and therefore place emphasis on cooperation, mutual respect and an informal tone.

With us you get a workplace where there is freedom with responsibility, and where initiative, commitment and the desire to make things work in practice are valued.

About the position

Your primary task will be to support the operation and development of the Royal Danish Navy's Historical Collection.

The Royal Danish Navy's Historical Collection contains more than 500 years of naval history and consists of a large collection of preservation-worthy objects, documents and effects, which in various ways tell the story of the Royal Danish Navy.

We are responsible, among other things, for

  • receiving and registering new effects
  • cataloguing and systematising the collection's items
  • storing and keeping the collection in order
  • administering loans of historical effects
  • supervising objects that are lent to other authorities, units or private collections
  • carrying out the associated administrative case handling.

A substantial part of the position will be registration and quality assurance of the collection's many items. The Royal Danish Navy's Historical Collection is currently working on acquiring a more modern registration system. When the system is in place, you will play a central role in transferring and registering the collection's existing items in the new system.

This requires meticulousness, systematic work and patience – but also an understanding that the work you perform helps ensure that the Navy's history is preserved for the future.

A part of a larger community

In addition to the tasks at the Royal Danish Navy's Historical Collection, you will join the Garrison Element's other tasks.

The Garrison Element supports, among other things, planning and execution of various activities at Korsør Naval Station. This can include:

  • Large and small visits
  • Open house
  • Flag Day
  • Contact- and welfare-related activities
  • Other events and practical tasks at the garrison.

The tasks vary throughout the year and are arranged in coordination with your immediate supervisor.

You therefore get a position where you have both a fixed professional area of responsibility and at the same time become part of a team where tasks can vary from day to day.

About you

You do not need to be a historian. The most important thing is that you want to work with the Navy's history and have an interest in learning about the objects and stories that the collection contains.

We imagine that you

  • are structured and have a good sense of order
  • work independently and methodically
  • have an eye for detail and quality
  • thrive with both practical and administrative tasks
  • have basic IT knowledge and a willingness to learn new systems
  • are service-minded and collaborative
  • take responsibility for your tasks and follow them through to completion
  • have a positive outlook and good humor
  • ease in building good relationships with both military and civilian partners.

It is an advantage if you have an interest in history, the Navy, or museum and collection work, but it is not a requirement.

The most important thing is that you have the will and ability to create order, maintain an overview and get tasks done.

By agreement there will be opportunities for home working in connection with relevant administrative tasks. A PC and a mobile phone will be provided for this.

Travel may be required, primarily within Denmark. This could include counting, inspection and supervision of historical items lent to other authorities, units or private collections.

Employment terms

The appointment is made in accordance with the current Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations – The State Sector (OAO-S collective agreement) and the Organizational Agreement for clerical officers, lab technicians and IT employees (HK) in the state.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is potential for negotiation of allowances. The position comes with a employer-funded pension scheme.

The workplace is at Korsør Naval Station/Noret. The Royal Danish Navy's Historical Collection is located at Depot Noret.

As an employee within the Ministry of Defence's area, you are subject to certain special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment period.

You have as an employee the duty to perform service outside the country, including at units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, humanitarian and other similar operations.

Contact and application

If you want to hear more about the position, you are welcome to contact the head of the Royal Danish Navy's Historical Collection, SSG Bjørn Nielsen, on telephone 2555 2632.

If you have questions about salary and employment conditions, you are welcome to contact the Personnel Command, HR Consultant Sofie Gadegaard on telephone 3266 5585.

The application deadline is 22 November 2026 and interviews are expected to be held in connection with this. The position is to be filled on 1 February 2026

You apply for the position via the link, and we ask you to attach your application, CV and copies of your educational certificates. Please note that attachments must be added in PDF format.

In the Ministry of Defence's organization we believe that diversity optimizes task solving. Therefore we encourage all interested regardless of background to apply for the position.
