Become part of a strong team at Tårnbygårdsskolen If you are passionate about special education and want to make a difference for young people with special needs, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

The position is a 37-hour-per-week role with start on 1 November or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is in our upper school, where you will work closely with another teacher around a group of students. It would be an advantage if you can teach mathematics.

Tårnbygårdsskolen is Tårnby Municipality's special school for students with extensive special education needs. Our students have varying and complex needs and can, among other things, have autism, ADHD, anxiety, school avoidance and cognitive challenges. Some students are cognitively age-appropriate, while others have reduced cognitive functioning.

Our pedagogical approach is based on Low Arousal and a shared reflective practice. We work to understand the students' behaviour and needs and to create frameworks that prevent conflicts and give the individual student the best possibilities to participate, develop and learn.

We believe in possibilities rather than limitations, and we place high value on professional collaboration. With us you are therefore not alone with the task.

You will usually teach together with a colleague, and together you plan and carry out structured and differentiated teaching that takes its starting point from the students' individual needs and prerequisites. Visual support, clear structure and flexibility are natural elements in the teaching.

In the upper years we work both with the students' academic development and with preparing them as best as possible for life after school. Therefore relational work, motivation and attention to the individual student are as important as the academic teaching.

We would like to hear from you if you

• have experience with or an interest in special education and special didactics
• are passionate about working with young people with special needs
• can plan and deliver structured and differentiated teaching
• see parent collaboration as an important part of the work
• can take responsibility for teaching in several subjects – preferably mathematics
• are reflective, calm and development-oriented
• actively contribute to teamwork and take shared responsibility for the students
• communicate clearly and professionally – both orally and in writing.

You do not need to have many years of experience in the field of special education. The most important thing is that you are curious about our students, want to develop your specialist pedagogical practice and can see opportunities, even when the task is complex.

If you are newly qualified

In Tårnby Municipality, in collaboration with DLF, Section 13, we offer an induction programme for newly qualified teachers and kindergarten class leaders. It takes place in collaboration with your manager, the union representative and the health and safety representative.

The first two years as a newly qualified teacher also include reduced teaching time, and there is a mentoring scheme at all schools. We take care to give you a good start to your teaching career.

Salary and terms of employment Employment is in accordance with the applicable collective agreement with the Danish Teachers’ Union after negotiation.

The municipality's recruitment policy entails that references are obtained from previous and current workplaces upon appointment. If you have worked for Tårnby Municipality, there will always be a reference from there. In addition, a police check and a child safeguarding certificate must be presented. Employment will be conditional on these being satisfactory.
