Leadership side by side – and close to it all

Pilekrogen is home to 16 adults with severe mental illness. The sous-chef position is entirely new, where we gather the cross-cutting aspects in one place. It also means that you will have real influence on what the position should look like.

As sous-chef you lead the house together with the manager. You will be responsible for the duty roster, be the line manager for temporary staff, hourly-paid and part-time employees, and share the administrative and professional leadership with the manager. You are the deputy for the manager during illness, holidays and other absences. The office is not your base – the house is. You eat breakfast and lunch with residents and colleagues, and you are present when questions arise.

Pilekrogen is a house in development. We are in the process of finding more common ways of working so that we pull in the same direction even more – and here you will have a central role. The foundation is strong: a staff group with high professionalism and residents who thrive. We will build on that together.

As you can see, the role covers a wide range: duty planning and staffing, coordination with our health professionals, collaboration with psychiatry and the municipality’s caseworkers, structure for follow-up meetings, administration and documentation – and the follow-up when an acute situation has subsided. You set the framework for the operation. The staff are the experts in the professional work with the residents.

You could, for example, be trained as a pedagogue, social worker or nurse – or have another social or health-care background. Maybe you are already a leader, maybe this is your first step into leadership. Both are welcome. You will learn psychiatry along the way, side by side with a staff group that knows it from the inside.

Practical information

• Workplace: Pilekrogen, Sognevej 21, 2820 Gentofte.
• Working hours: Full-time and permanent employment, mainly during daytime Monday–Friday. You are deputy when the administrator takes holidays, is ill or has other absence. You will enter a phone-backup arrangement outside normal working hours together with the administrator.
• Start date: January 1, 2027.

About Pilekrogen

Pilekrogen is Gentofte Municipality’s highly specialized residential facility under the Danish Service Act for adults with severe mental illness – typically schizophrenia, often combined with substance use and/or a court order for treatment. Here 16 residents live in their own apartments distributed across two housing units with a kitchen-dining area, a fireplace lounge and a garden. Most live here for many years.

We are about 35 staff – social educators, social- and health-care assistants, social worker, health coordinator and pedagogical assistants. We work from a low-arousal approach, a trauma-informed approach and a recovery perspective, and we respect residents’ right to decide – also when it comes to treatment. Pilekrogen is a home, before it is a residential facility, and relatives are a close part of everyday life. Read more about Pilekrogen here.
