About the job

Would you like to use your porter and care porter skills in a new way? Do you thrive with responsibility, safety and close collaboration with other professional groups? Then we may have the job for you.

A new function with safety and collaboration at the core The mobile Acute Function handles acute and complex nursing tasks for citizens in Copenhagen and on Frederiksberg. The aim is to create safe and coherent care pathways for citizens and prevent unnecessary hospital admissions.

From February 1, 2027, the function will transition to regional operation under Region East Denmark with organizational affiliation to the Acute Admissions at Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital. At the same time, the function will be available around the clock.

We are therefore looking for two porters for night shifts, who will form a close partnership with the mobile acute nurses. Your most important task is to contribute to safety and create security for both the nurse and the citizen. You will be an active part of solving the tasks, where your competencies as porter and care porter come into play in collaboration with the nurse.

You drive the car – and help solve the task The workplace is the car, the road and the citizen’s own home. You must be able to stay calm, be attentive to your surroundings and handle situations where conditions can be unpredictable.

We emphasize that you do not see yourself merely as a driver, but as an important partner in the overall task solution.

When you drive, the nurse has the opportunity to prepare the next visit, read relevant documentation, document in the Health Platform (SP), register tasks and coordinate with doctors and other collaborators along the way. This makes it possible to use the driving time as efficiently as possible and create a smooth workflow in the work.

Your tasks will include, among others,

  • Drive the service car safely between citizen visits.
  • Actively contribute to safety before, during and after visits to citizens.
  • Be mindful of risks and help prevent and de-escalate insecure or conflict-filled situations.
  • Engage in close collaboration with the nurse on planning and carrying out visits.
  • Assist with practical and care-related tasks within your competencies.
  • Assist with moving, mobilization and positioning, as well as support during examinations and treatments.
  • Carry out relevant observations and measurements, for example temperature, pulse, blood pressure, saturation and blood sugar, when you are trained and the task lies within your competence area.
  • Contribute to a good dialogue with citizens and relatives, even when there is worry or insecurity.
  • Ensure good hygienic work practices when working in the citizen’s own home.

The nurse is responsible for clinical assessment, treatment and nursing actions. Your role is to support the task through safety, transport, practical assistance and relevant porter tasks.

We work as a pair We want the porter and the nurse to, as a rule, go out to the citizen together. This makes it possible to solve the tasks together and use both professional groups’ competencies as best as possible.

It can, for example, be when you help with positioning in connection with a KAD installation or other examination, assist with mobilization or perform relevant measurements. It can also be when a worried citizen or relative needs calm, presence and a good conversation.

Working in the citizen’s own home also imposes particular requirements for hygiene, behavior and respect for the home’s boundaries. Therefore you will be introduced to the workflows and competencies necessary to safely and professionally integrate into the function.

We see the position as an opportunity to use your existing competencies in new contexts and develop professionally through collaboration with the nurses.

Who are you? We are looking for you who are trained as a porter and who want to join a new function where safety, collaboration and professional standards are closely connected.

We expect you to

  • Be a trained porter with experience with patient contact and porter tasks.
  • Have care porter education and relevant on-call and security training or be willing to complete the necessary training as soon as possible after hiring.
  • Have a valid driving license for category B, as you must drive the service car between citizen visits.
  • Be stable, responsible and able to maintain calm and an overview in unpredictable situations.
  • Have good collaboration skills and communicate respectfully and professionally with citizens, relatives and colleagues.
  • Have a sense of safety and be able to help prevent and manage conflicts.
  • Be able to work independently within your own area of responsibility and at the same time engage in a close partnership with the nurse.
  • Understand the importance of safety, hygiene and professionally sound task execution.
  • Be eager to develop your competencies and contribute to building a new function.

Experience from the acute reception, psychiatry, security or other citizen-contact roles with unpredictable situations is an advantage.

We offer

  • An exciting and different porter function with a clear role in the overall acute care offer.
  • A close partnership with the mobile acute nurses.
  • Opportunity to bring your care porter and security competencies into play in new ways.
  • Introduction to the function, the tasks and the relevant workflows.
  • Opportunity for competence development in areas including security, hygiene and practical assistance.
  • An evolving workplace where we together shape and further develop the new function.

We hope you will view it as an exciting opportunity to try your hand at a different task where your experience and competencies make a tangible difference for both the citizen and your coworker.
