About the job

  • a special dual function in a holistic and cross-disciplinary team in Kolding Municipality.

Would you like to help create coherence between employment, family life and the well-being of children and young people? And can you both stand firmly in your authority role and work practically with parents' path to education and employment?

Then maybe you are the one we are looking for in Job & Family Life.

With us we work with families where the challenges cannot be understood or solved through one professional discipline alone. Therefore, employment advisors, child and youth advisors and family therapists work closely with the family and relevant partners.

We are concerned with the whole person, the whole family and the contexts the family is part of. We believe that a parent’s path to education or employment can contribute to structure, stability, belonging and increased self-esteem – but also that the path must make sense in the family’s overall situation.

A position with two functions – and one common core task

As an employment advisor in Job & Family Life you will have a special double function, where you both carry out the employment professional authority task and function as a job consultant.

You must be able to navigate securely in the employment legislation, make and follow up decisions within your competence area and ensure a qualified and systematic case processing.

At the same time, you must be able to translate your employment professional knowledge into concrete opportunities together with the parents. It’s about creating contact with the labor market and finding paths to job internships, ordinary hours, education or employment.

You must be able to move between the authority responsibility and the practice-oriented, supportive and development-oriented effort – with a view to both the parents’ opportunities and the family’s overall situation.

We know that development rarely happens in a straight line, and that even small steps can have great significance.

Who are we?

Job & Family Life is a cross-disciplinary team where we work with families that have an active child case, and where one or both parents receive public assistance.

We do not work in separate tracks. We share knowledge, coordinate efforts and bring our different professionalities into play, while respecting the laws and the authority responsibilities we each work within.

For us, good cross-disciplinary collaboration also means being able to move toward one another and being curious about what arises between our different professional perspectives.

You must be able to stand securely in your own professional field – but not so firmly that it gets in the way of the whole. Sometimes it requires you to dare let your own perspective recede, because another approach serves the citizen better here and now.

We must be able to challenge each other and ourselves and always return to the question: What serves the citizen best?

This requires professional security, curiosity and the courage to learn together.

Collaboration with JobKolding

We collaborate closely with JobKolding, where among other things work is done with activity-ready cash benefit recipients over 30 years old.

As an employment advisor in Job & Family Life you will be attached to a team at Dieselvej, where you participate in team meetings, department meetings and professional case sparring.

It gives you a fixed attachment to a professional employment community where you can share experiences, brainstorm with colleagues and receive professional support in everyday life.

Your tasks

Your tasks range from authority work, job consultant functions and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

As an employment professional authority person you must, among other things

  • Handle employment-related case processing within current legislation and competence area.
  • Ensure relevant follow-up, documentation, journaling and authority assessments.
  • Work with employment-related plans and initiatives with a view to the family’s overall situation.
  • Handle the authority responsibility clearly and professionally in the cross-disciplinary collaboration.

As a job consultant you must, among other things

  • Actively and practically work with parents’ path to education and employment.
  • Create concrete opportunities for job internships, ordinary hours, education and job.
  • Establish and maintain collaboration with companies and relevant actors in the employment area.
  • Follow up on employment-related courses and support progression – also when development occurs in small steps.

As part of the cross-disciplinary team you must, among other things

  • Coordinate efforts and agreements together with the family, children and youth advisers and family therapists.
  • Actively participate in cross-disciplinary meetings, follow-ups and joint professional reflections.
  • Contribute your employment professional knowledge to a shared understanding of the family’s opportunities and challenges.
  • Be curious about how different professional perspectives can create new actionable options for the family.

The 3 harbors – part of our multi-family oriented effort

You also play an important role in our multi-family oriented effort, The 3 Harbors, where you, together with a colleague, will teach and create room for joint learning and development among parents. Here we work with themes that connect family life, personal resources and the path to education and employment.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is trained as a social worker, social facilitator or has another relevant advanced education qualifying you for authority tasks and social work in the employment area.

You have a solid employment professional foundation and can translate legislation and professional knowledge into concrete and meaningful actions.

We also place emphasis on that you

  • Have experience with or a solid knowledge of the employment area – preferably both authority work and job consultant tasks.
  • Have an understanding of enterprise-oriented efforts and can create cooperation with the labor market.
  • Can see employment in connection with the family’s overall situation and the well-being of children and young people.
  • Thrive in a close and binding cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Have a desire to share your knowledge and participate in group-based learning and development programs.
  • Dare to challenge and be challenged professionally.
  • Work in a structured way and be able to maintain an overview, even when the complexity is high.
  • Are digitally competent and can navigate in various professional systems. In the employment area we work for example in Fasit, and if you do not have experience with the system, you must have the courage to learn it.

You do not need to know everything – but you must have the courage to learn, be curious about what you do not yet know, and want to develop yourself together with others.

We believe that strong professionalism is not about having all the answers, but about daring to ask questions, share your knowledge and be open to new perspectives.

Professional development is part of the job

We prioritize professional development, supervision and shared reflection. We want a professional culture where we dare to explore our own practice and learn from both what succeeds and what challenges us.

In April 2027 you must participate in a one-week training in Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT). FIT is to support our systematic inclusion of children and families’ perspectives and help us continuously examine whether the collaboration and the effort feel helpful.

Our shared starting point

In Job & Family Life we stand on a common value-based and professional foundation, which takes its starting point in the Citizen Center, the Kolding Municipality strategy Self-worth and Coherence and Kolding Municipality’s child and youth perspective.

It is not only values and strategies we refer to. It is a foundation that should be recognizable in the way we meet children, young people and families, in our professional assessments and in the collaboration with each other.

We meet people with respect, curiosity and belief in their resources and development possibilities. We work to create solutions together with the family rather than for the family and have in mind that children and young people have their own perspectives, which must be included and given significance.

For us, professional expertise, human view and action must go hand in hand. It should be noticeable to the families we work with.

With us you get

A strong professional work community with colleagues who bring different perspectives and competencies into the task.

You will have access to professional sparring, supervision and shared reflection, as well as the opportunity to help develop a special employment professional role where authority work, enterprise-oriented initiatives and family-oriented work are integrated.

We expect you to take responsibility, contribute to the community and bring your professionalism into play clearly. In return you can expect colleagues and management who take an interest in the task and help create direction when the complexity becomes large.

We do not expect you to stand alone with the complexity. We expect you to stand in it together with the family, your colleagues and our partners.
