As a Business Controller you help to shape a solid financial foundation for DTU’s mission. You are directly involved in ensuring that DTU can deliver research and development that helps solve the major challenges the world and the planet face. Budgeting and financial management in close dialogue with the management

Your new job is classic controlling with a focus on budgeting and financial management. Based on your experience you will have responsibility for two or more institutes/units. You are the management’s financial advisor and the one who delivers the important analyses, forecasts, budgets and reports that keep the finances together. Your responsibilities include:

• Monthly follow-up on the institute’s/unit’s basic operating economics
• Preparation of payroll forecast for the institute’s/unit’s staff
• Preparation of the institute’s four-year strategic budget
• Coordination of the annual budget process including consolidation into the overall institute/unit budget
• Preparation of quarterly forecasts and variance explanations to DTU Group Finance
• Preparation of the annual financial statement(s)
• Ad hoc analyses and calculations, e.g. for use in optimizing the business

Your path to success largely rests on your ability to build good collaboration. The path to success applies to the management for your units, your immediate supervisor and not least your project controller colleagues. You have and create the overall overview, and the Project Controllers have the overview of the individual projects. It all succeeds only if you work together and give each other the right inputs and information.

The job and digitization

Digitization is an important part of the ongoing development that the finance department at DTU wishes to be part of. Therefore, in the business controller related tasks there are a number of initiatives regarding how AI, prompts etc. can become a new natural part of daily work for a business controller. The ambition is that this happens in an intelligent way aimed at replacing more routine tasks, so that you as a business controller have more time for advice, scenario calculations etc. towards DTU’s units.

Master’s level economic education or equivalent experience

To be good at controlling, you must have a well-developed ability to wonder when something doesn’t immediately add up. You must be able to find the balance between digging for the truth and pulling the plug in time, so you do not waste your time on details that do not create real value. As a high-level advisor you must have the courage to make decisions, and you must be able to argue logically and simply for your choices when challenged by stakeholders, who include strong personalities.

Whether you are a new graduate or very experienced is not decisive, as our portfolio is so large that we can match tasks and responsibilities to your level. Our goal is that you continually become more capable and have fun while doing it. In addition to the above you should be able to check off:

• Master’s level economic education or equivalent experience
• Interest in budgeting and financial management and a desire for professional development
• ERP knowledge – you can learn our Oracle Cloud with EPM (Hyperion) for budgeting and reporting
• Desire to be able to use and think in new controller methods via AI, Copilot, prompts etc.
• Good English skills, written and spoken

Your new department

Your new workplace will be DTU’s main campus in Lyngby. Here you will have about 20 other capable Business Controllers as your nearest colleagues. In other words, you will have opportunities for sparring and learning at a level very few Danish companies can match. Salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment in accordance with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) for academics in the state or in accordance with the OAO-S joint agreement and the organizational agreement for office workers, laboratory technicians and IT staff (HK/Stat).
