About the job

We are looking for a pedagogue for our baby unit on Frederiksberg. Someone who can find professionalism in a muddy puddle, development in a conflict over a red shovel, and meaning in the small moments that together make up a child's everyday life.

And let us begin with an admission

We have not invented the perfect baby unit.

We also do not have a magical pedagogical method that makes all children sleep at the same time, all parents drop off without tears, or all colleagues always agree.

However, we do have ambitions.

We want to create a baby unit where children meet adults who not only know something about pedagogy but who are curious about how it actually works in practice.

Where we dare to ask questions about what we usually do.

Where professionalism is not only something we talk about at staff meetings, but something that can be felt when we welcome a child, help two children into a play, or find calm in the middle of a busy morning.

And we are looking for a pedagogue who wants to help turn these ambitions into reality.

Welcome to Horisonten

Horisonten Daycare is a daycare house in Frederiksberg with a baby unit, a kindergarten, and a forest department in Rude Forest.

You will become part of our baby unit on Frederiksberg, where our four groups are named North, South, East, and West.

We are a house in development, and we work purposefully to create a strong shared pedagogical culture.

That means we do not necessarily have all the answers in advance. But we have the will to find them together.

We are focused on presence, play, movement, and children's communities. On clear frameworks that allow room for deepening. And on adults who are able to follow the children's initiatives without losing the pedagogical overview.

For us, good pedagogy is not about making the children fit into our plans.

It is about creating frameworks where children have the opportunity to develop, explore the world, and experience themselves as meaningful participants in the community.

We are not looking for a pedagogue who always has the answer

We are looking for someone who dares to ask the questions.

Why do we actually do what we do?

What is the child trying to tell us?

How can we organize ourselves so we have more time for what actually matters?

And could there be another way to understand the situation?

We believe that professionalism develops when we dare to be curious about both the children, each other, and ourselves.

Therefore you must want to bring your professionalism into play. Not to be right, but to help all of us become wiser.

You must be able to take responsibility and set direction, but also dare to change course when the children's perspectives call for something else.

And you must be able to see the value in both planned pedagogical work and the spontaneous moments when something completely unexpected arises.

Sometimes the day's most important pedagogical activity is not the one we wrote on the board.

We hope you…

are a trained pedagogue and want to actively bring your professionalism into play

are focused on children's perspectives and curious about what lies behind their actions

can create secure relationships while challenging the children sufficiently for their development

dare to play, experiment, and follow the children's initiatives

can translate pedagogical reflections into concrete action

have the courage to question both your own and our shared practice

see professional reflection and feedback as opportunities for development

can take responsibility for the pedagogical work and contribute to clear organization in everyday life

meet both children, parents, and colleagues with respect, curiosity, and humor.

And perhaps most importantly

You should want to be a pedagogue – even when pedagogy does not look like it did in the textbook.

With us, professionalism is something we do together

We do not believe that strong pedagogy is created by individuals each doing their best behind closed doors.

We believe it is developed in the community.

When we share our observations, challenge each other’s understandings, and dare to speak about both what works and what is difficult.

As a pedagogue with us you therefore have an important role in creating coherence between our pedagogical ambitions and the everyday life the children encounter.

That also means we expect you to take co-responsibility for the professional community.

Not because you have to know everything alone.

But because we need to succeed together.

On the other hand, we do not promise…

…that every day goes according to plan.

…that there is always time to drink coffee while it is hot.

…that all children think it is a wonderful idea to put on a snowsuit.

…or that your colleagues always agree with you.

But we can offer you a workplace where there is room for professional discussions, new ideas, and different perspectives.

A daycare house where you have a real opportunity to influence development and help shape the culture we want to be known for.

A leadership that prioritizes professional development, clear frameworks, and a work environment where we can both set demands of each other and take care of each other.

And a daily life where you get to work with some of the most meaningful things there are: to be an important adult in small humans' big lives.

Why do we call ourselves Horisonten?

Because a horizon is about both sight and direction.

About knowing where we want to go while remaining open to what we have yet to discover.

We believe children develop when they meet adults who are not afraid to be curious with them.

And we believe the same is true for us as professionals.

Therefore we are not looking for a pedagogue who will come in and fit into everything we already do.

We are looking for a pedagogue who wants to help develop what we have not yet become.

Do you want to join?

The position is located in our baby unit on Frederiksberg.

We look forward to hearing what you can contribute – both as a pedagogue, colleague, and person.

And you do not need to write that you are passionate about children.

We conduct ongoing interviews.

We would much rather hear what makes you curious about them.
