About the job

Denmark's ability to defend itself in an uncertain world depends on decisions being made on an up-to-date basis. As a case handler in the Operations Department, you help create an overview and translate strategy into action, even when the pace is high.

About us

The Operations Department at the Danish Defence Ministry's Materiel- og Indkøbsstyrelse is the link that translates strategy into action and keeps management informed about the operational reality, so decisions can be made on an up-to-date basis. As a cross-cutting staff function, we support both daily planning and the conduct of FMI (the Danish Defence Ministry's Materiel- og Indkøbsstyrelse).

Our work ranges from intelligence and operations planning to training and operations support, which gives FMI a permanent ability to handle crises when they arise. We are a team with diverse military and civilian backgrounds, experiences and competencies. We have an informal tone in everyday life combined with a high professional ambition.

About the position

In your role as a case handler you will create an overview and bridge the gap between the operative reality and the professional environments, so we can support the Defence's operations as best as possible.

You will play a central role in receiving and coordinating the department's tasks, and you will, among other things, be responsible for:

  • Handle ongoing case management and ensure an overview of the department's tasks
  • Contribute to and coordinate the development of our and the Chief of Defence's Commander Update Briefing in close collaboration with divisions and the staff
  • Handle intelligence tasks, including translating signals from the Defence Intelligence Service and following the threat picture
  • Represent us in the Defence's intelligence-related coordination forums
  • Serve as a link to the Defence's operative structure and join the command staff in the event of a crisis or conflict

You will have a broad network and the opportunity to build a strong professional network. Over time you will influence the strategic overview at FMI, as well as take on greater responsibility close to the environments that deliver the solutions.

We value a good working environment and a strong collegial community, where collaboration is built on trust, fairness and solidarity.

At the same time we offer flexibility in planning your work, including the possibility of working from home.

About you

You keep an overview when the pace is high, you independently translate a task into a concrete result, and you thrive in collaboration with many different professional environments.

You have an academic background and probably experience from staff work, operations support or intelligence. Knowledge of the Defence's operative structure and FMI is an advantage.

Terms of employment

The appointment is made in accordance with the current agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

Depending on your qualifications and competences, there is a possibility for negotiation of allowances. The position is linked to an employer-funded pension scheme.

The workplace is in Ballerup.

As an employee under the Ministry of Defence's area, you are subject to some special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment.

As an employee you are obliged to perform service outside the country’s borders, including at units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, humanitarian and other similar operations.

About FMI

The Danish Defence Ministry's Materiel- og Indkøbsstyrelse (FMI) is Denmark's central authority for the armed forces' and civil emergency materiel, IT and cyber security in peace, crisis and war. We work to ensure that the overall defence is equipped, updated and operational — at a time when demands for speed and combat power have never been greater. It is us who procure, operate and dispose of materiel and IT for the Army, Navy, Air Force and the rest of the Ministry of Defence's group.

It is our IT staff who daily help avert the cyberattacks the group is exposed to. We are a diverse organization with about 2,500 employees — civilians and military — spread across the entire Kingdom.
