About the job
Are you an ambitious and relationship-driven leader who can achieve results through others, strengthen collaboration across the organization, and develop patient pathways with high professional quality? And would you like to help set the direction for the future of Heart Diseases? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for!
About the position
As Chief Nurse, together with the Chief Medical Officer, you will be part of the department management, where you work closely and trustingly – both with each other and with the senior nursing leaders, the health administrative leader and the Chief Physician. You report to the hospital executive and have overall responsibility for the nursing professional quality in the department. The department management shares responsibility for operations and development and is the central driving force behind the department's strategic direction.
You focus on exercising clear leadership, where you set a clear direction, formulate expectations and follow up, so that leadership colleagues and staff know what they can rely on. You are a presence and visible leader who is available in daily life and prioritizes leadership and development of the unit managers. You thereby create the best framework for leaders and staff to succeed together and solve the core task with high professional quality.
You are a natural role model for cross-disciplinary and cross-organizational collaboration. This means you actively work for good collaboration across departments, professional groups and sectors, and you contribute to a culture where trust, respect and shared direction are in focus. At the same time you have a strong strategic perspective and can translate the hospital's strategy into concrete actions.
In your management of the department's leaders you contribute to the development of professional environments - with particular focus on nursing and nursing professional development, the work environment and MED collaboration. You work with improvement leadership as an integrated part of your leadership practice and you dare to challenge the status quo.
Southern Denmark Hospital stands with our partners in the midst of extensive development. With the Health Reform 2024 there will be a strengthened organization of the local healthcare, which both imposes new demands and opens new possibilities. You will play a central role in translating the health reform's intentions and Southern Denmark Hospital's Strategy 2030 into meaningful solutions for both patients and staff.
What we expect
As a person and leader we value that you demonstrate integrity in both your decisions and your relationships. You are listening and inclusive and understand how to bring different perspectives into play when decisions are made. You are proactive and succeed through others by actively strengthening your fellow leaders and your leadership team.
We expect you to be curious and innovative and to have the courage to try new ways of organizing work when it can strengthen quality for patients and create a good working environment. You are a nurse with solid leadership experience from the healthcare sector and a relevant leadership education – and you have a fundamental understanding of organization and complexity in a hospital. The most important thing is, however, that you are motivated to take responsibility for people, professionalism and development.
You thrive in a daily life where you balance safe operations with strategic development, and where you through the leadership of leaders together with the Chief Doctor set a clear direction and create the framework for the organization to achieve its goals.
What we can offer
You will become a central part of the management in a department with high professionalism and a strong collegial community. You will have close collaboration with the hospital's executive and the rest of the management team and a unique opportunity to influence development at Southern Denmark Hospital.
The position includes a strategic leadership role, where you together with the rest of the management team are responsible for both development and operations of the entire hospital. You will become part of an organization in motion, where you have the opportunity to set direction, implement changes and see the effect in both patient pathways and workflows.
To ensure you get a good start, we will arrange an individual introduction and mentorship program based on your experience and the department's needs.
About the department
Cardiology is a specialized medical department that handles both acute and planned pathways for patients with heart disease. We have a 22-bed ward, day hospital and outpatient clinics spread across several sites, with main activity in Aabenraa. We cover the entire patient journey from evaluation and treatment to follow-up and rehabilitation.
The department is characterized by a good working environment and high patient satisfaction. This is reflected in both the department's patient experience surveys and the latest MTU, which are among the top. We emphasize a culture where collaboration, respect and open dialogue are central values, and where work is directed at both professional quality and well-being.
We are a larger interdisciplinary staff group of about 110 employees consisting of nurses, social and health care assistants, doctors, secretaries and other professionals, who work closely across departments and functions. Our organization supports coherent patient pathways, so patients meet the right expertise, whether they are admitted or come ambulatory.
Interdisciplinary collaboration is a cornerstone of the department's way of working. Structured teams including doctors, nurses/ social and health care assistants, secretaries, physiotherapists, dietitians and psychologists help develop and quality-assure cardiology treatment pathways and workflows. This provides both a high professional level and opportunities for deepening in particular areas of interest within the cardiology field.
Education and competence development are an integral part of the department's profile. We have ongoing students and interns from several programs and work systematically with introduction, onboarding, supervision and continuing education. Both new and experienced staff are offered targeted competence development and are involved in development and improvement work.
As Chief Nurse you will join a department with strong professional environments and well-documented satisfaction among both patients and staff. There is potential for continued development of both the framework, nursing, interdisciplinary collaboration and cardiology patient pathways. At the same time you will play an important role in developing collaboration with municipalities in line with health reform.
