About the job

Do you want to lead two specialized ward departments and set direction for people, professionalism and operations?

We are seeking a chief nurse who, together with skilled staff, partners and department management, will help develop our two wards within Cancer and Palliative Care.

The two wards each have their own specialty, professionalism and patient pathways. Patients are cared for by our oncology medical team and our ELB doctor (Unit for Palliative Care). At the same time, we have close cross-department collaboration where we help each other and use our combined competencies and resources when it makes sense for patients and operations.

Two specialties – one shared leadership task

Cancer treatment and specialized palliation are two different disciplines with their own professional standards and patient pathways. We want to maintain and develop the specialties separately while also strengthening cross-collaboration.

As chief nurse you will have overall management responsibility for both areas. You will have two specialty-responsible nurses close to you, each responsible for the professional development within their specialty.

In daily operations you will be supported by skilled coordinators in the Cancer Treatment Ward and a planner who handles the duty rosters for both specialties. The roles help create coherence and support our working as one united ward.

We believe that strong specialties create better and closer interdisciplinary collaboration.

Your leadership role

You will be responsible for staff, operations, work environment, quality and development and must create clear frameworks and direction so that employees can succeed in their core task.

You shall, among other things

  • exert visible, present and decisive leadership and create engagement
  • ensure high quality, patient safety and good patient pathways
  • set direction for nursing and support the development of the two specialties
  • create good conditions for wellbeing, competence development and a sustainable working life
  • secure smooth operations and responsible use of resources
  • support the two specialty leads and their professional functions
  • actively participate in the department's overall leadership and development.

You must be able to balance operations and development while also recognizing that good patient pathways are created by skilled and engaged staff.

Who are you?

We are seeking a leader with a strong nursing professional foundation who can create direction and buy-in in a complex clinical everyday life.

We imagine that you

  • are a licensed nurse, possibly with a master's degree
  • have management experience and preferably a relevant leadership qualification – or are willing to undertake such
  • have experience with or interest in cancer nursing and/or specialized palliation, an advantage but not a requirement
  • are clear, inclusive and decisive
  • can translate strategy and goals into action close to practice
  • have a view of people, professionalism, operations and results.

The most important thing is that you want to lead, set direction and develop together with others.

We offer

You will become part of a leadership group where we prioritize honesty, sparring, collaboration and development across the Cancer Department.

You will have the opportunity to lead a united ward with two strong specialties, skilled staff and good supporting functions – and to help develop future patient pathways at the Hospital of Opportunities in Gødstrup.

We emphasize clarity with warmth, involvement and a high professional level. We work together on the core task, and the patient is always the focus.
