About the job

Do you want to lead an engaged team of staff and help set the direction for elderly psychiatric nursing?

Are you keen to combine presence-based staff leadership with strong professional leadership – and are you passionate about creating good and coherent patient pathways for older people with mental illness?

Then perhaps you are our new Chief Nurse at the Elderly Psychiatric Ward D4 at the Psychiatric Center Glostrup.

Welcome to D4

Ward D4 is an intensive unit with space for 13 patients. Here we work with elderly psychiatry for people over 70 who have various psychiatric disorders. We may also have younger patients with dementing diseases in the ward.

In daily work we deal with an exciting and complex combination of psychiatric, somatic and social problems, which we take pride in solving as well as possible together with the patient and their relatives and in close collaboration with primary care.

We have a strong focus on ensuring that the patient and relatives experience a safe, respectful and coherent treatment pathway. We work recovery-oriented and with focus on the individual patient’s resources, wishes and needs.

You will become part of a multidisciplinary environment where nurses, social and health care assistants, social worker, psychologist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist and doctors work closely together on patient treatment and care. We also have a very close collaboration with our colleagues in the outpatient elderly psychiatric team on campus.

As Chief Nurse you will be a central part of the ward's leadership and development. You will work closely with the ward’s chief physician and with your other leadership colleagues at the Psychiatric Center Glostrup.

Your role as Chief Nurse

Your most important task as Chief Nurse on D4 will be to create frameworks where staff can succeed with the core task and at the same time develop professionally and personally.

You must be a clear and present leader who can set direction, create commitment and be close to daily operations.

We expect that you

  • take care of professional leadership, personnel leadership, operations management and strategic leadership with a view to the overall leadership task
  • ensure high quality and continuity in patient treatment
  • support the development of the elderly psychiatric nursing
  • create good conditions for professional reflection, sparring and competence development
  • work systematically with work environment, well-being and psychological safety
  • support a strong and constructive multidisciplinary collaboration
  • have an eye for the patients’ and relatives’ perspectives
  • ensure that staff competencies are developed and used in the best possible way
  • work structurally with quality, data and implementation of new initiatives
  • actively contribute to the development of elderly psychiatry across psychiatry and somatics

We also place emphasis on employee involvement and on creating a culture where responsibility and tasks can be delegated, and where staff professionalism is brought into play.

Who are you as a leader?

We are seeking a Chief Nurse who is curious, inclusive and clear, and who can create direction without losing closeness to the staff.

You are a nurse with leadership experience, preferably from psychiatry or the hospital sector.

We would like you to

  • have a strong nursing professional identity and an interest in elderly psychiatry
  • have experience with personnel leadership and preferably leadership in psychiatry
  • communicate clearly, respectfully and appreciatively – both orally and in writing
  • be able to create an overview and make decisions in a complex everyday life
  • be good at building relationships and collaborating across professional groups and sectors
  • be willing to lead when new work processes need to be developed and implemented
  • see staff diversity as a strength
  • have an eye for both operations, professional standards, work environment and development
  • be curious about new knowledge and want to continuously develop elderly psychiatric practice

What do we offer you?

As Chief Nurse at D4 you will be part of an organization where you have the opportunity to influence both daily operations and long-term development.

You will receive

  • an exciting and meaningful leadership position within a complex and important specialty
  • dedicated staff with high professionalism and a desire to develop practice
  • close collaboration with the ward’s chief physician and the center’s other leaders
  • opportunity for leadership coaching and professional sparring
  • opportunity for courses and further education in leadership
  • a individually tailored induction process based on your experience and needs
  • opportunity to help develop psychiatric nursing across the center
  • a workplace where professionalism, reflection, curiosity and knowledge sharing are prioritized

We believe that good leadership is created in the relationship with the staff. Therefore you will not only have responsibility for D4 – you will also have a strong leadership community around you.

Would you like to help develop elderly psychiatry?

Elderly psychiatry is a developing area, and we have an important task to ensure high quality, coherence and dignity in the treatment of our elderly patients.

Therefore we are seeking a Chief Nurse who wants to lead together with the staff and help create a department where patients and relatives experience quality and safety, and where staff experience professional pride, development and job satisfaction.

If you can see yourself in this, we look forward to hearing from you.
