About the job

Can you nod to leading staff as a cool task, and would you like to help develop the Emergency Department so that it contributes to the health reform's vision of more proximity, equality and coherent pathways for patients, then you should apply for a chief nurse position with us.

We work purposefully after the Hospital of the Little Belt value triangle and take both values and promises seriously. We continuously work on developing treatment and patient experiences, so our patients feel safe and helped with what matters to them. We do this, among other things, by nurturing collaboration with both patients and relatives as well as internal and external partners. At the same time we jointly focus on how we, based on high professionalism and a good working environment, can make improvements to benefit our patients.

The Emergency Department consists of the Emergency Room, the Emergency Reception, a Fast Track zone, a Day Hospital, and Visitation. You are a management group of 4 chief nurses who jointly handle the daily operations and management of all areas in the Emergency Department. There are about 160 nursing staff employed in the Emergency Department and you will be the line manager for about 40 staff members.

There are two shift planners who make rosters in Hos Info and ensure daily attendance.

Your primary area of work will be the Emergency Reception, where about 70 patients are received and treated daily. The patient category ranges from young people with addiction issues, medical, orthopedic, neurological, organ surgical, vascular surgical and gynecological patients. We discharge about 75% of patients from the Emergency Department, where the vast majority have short courses of a few hours and some patients stay in the Emergency Department for a maximum of 24 hours.

Only 25% of patients are admitted to the hospital's bed departments. We work closely with the physicians and management of other specialties to ensure professional quality and the most appropriate workflows.

About the job

The Emergency Department is the heart of the acute hospital, and to succeed in creating good, coherent patient pathways, both good internal cooperation and cross-organizational cooperation with the hospital's other departments, as well as the municipal and pre-hospital area, are required, which is why strong relational competencies based on trust and respect are a prerequisite for succeeding in the job.

You will join a close leadership community with the three other chief nurses in the Emergency Department, where you work closely together on both the operational task and development initiatives, and together with the chief physician for the area.

The leadership tasks as chief nurse span from daily operations, personnel management, work environment, financial and staffing control, pre- and post-graduate education tasks and to leading various development – and implementation initiatives

The Emergency Department and Medical Diseases share a common department leadership, and therefore you will also be part of an inter-professional leadership group across the Emergency Department and Medical Diseases, where we place a high value on collegial sparring, and in collaboration with the department leadership there is a focus on a culture where we in the leadership group are responsive to each other, where everything can be said aloud, and where we together continuously work to improve our departments.

We prioritize leadership well-being highly, and there is an opportunity for leadership supervision and leadership development, tailored to your needs professionally and personally.

About you

You are a trained nurse, but your focus is leadership.

Whether you come with leadership experience or not is not decisive, but you must have leadership in your DNA and want to develop yourself targeted in the leadership task.

You are passionate about development and interdisciplinary collaboration, and have a talent for working with employees on how we translate values and strategies into concrete solutions.

You are motivated by working with ongoing improvements, and can therefore see yourself working with improvement management in the form of the South Danish Improvement Model.

The daily operation requires that you can work in a structured way and are organizationally oriented. You will take on leadership, personnel responsibility and be visible in daily life. You work to ensure that everyone in the department delivers high nursing care quality and are at the same time aware that it requires a good working environment with high well-being and job satisfaction.
