About the job

Would you like to be part of an oncology department where you get close to the patients, colleagues and the professional decisions? We are seeking a senior physician in clinical oncology with a special interest in late effects after cancer. The position is shift-free and desired to be filled on 1/1/2027 or by agreement.

The position has a particular focus on late effects after cancer, and you will carry out clinical work in the Late Effects Clinic. You will also be part of the outpatient clinic treating patients with breast and colorectal cancer.

About us The Cancer Outpatient Clinic became independent at the turn of 2025. We provide medical treatment of breast and colorectal cancer at all stages. When needed, our patients are admitted to a specific internal medical ward where we conduct rounds on our own inpatients in cooperation with the medical doctors.

The Late Effects Clinic accepts patients across cancer diagnoses and treatments. We work in a multidisciplinary manner with diagnostics and treatment of complex late effects with focus on symptom relief, functional ability and quality of life.

We have a close collaboration with the other specialties at Esbjerg Hospital, including surgery, radiology and pathology, and with the Radiation Therapy at Vejle Hospital.

Your everyday life with us You will become part of a small medical team with close contact to nurses, psychologists and secretaries. Your tasks will be closely linked to the Late Effects Clinic and will include:

  • Evaluation, treatment and follow-up of patients with late effects after cancer in close multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Ambulatory treatment and follow-up of patients with breast and colorectal cancer.
  • Rounds on the department’s inpatients.
  • Handling of acute clinical problems and medical guidance and support to the rest of the outpatient staff as well as specialist advice to other departments in the house.
  • Participation in MDT conferences and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Teaching of colleagues and medical students.
  • Contribution to quality work and the ongoing professional development of the department.

The concrete distribution of tasks is planned in dialogue with you based on the department's needs and your experience and interests.

We offer

  • Opportunity to delve into late effects after cancer while maintaining a broad clinical involvement in treatment of breast- and colorectal cancer.
  • A manageable department with the possibility to influence daily work and patient pathways.
  • Dedicated colleagues across professional groups.
  • Professional sparring, shared teaching and the possibility for continued competence development.
  • Opportunity to engage in research and clinical studies.

The department has a professor of clinical oncology attached and participates in national and international research projects. We want to closely integrate research, quality development and clinical practice.

We place emphasis on a daily life with respect, open dialogue and shared responsibility for patient treatment and collaboration.

We are looking for you who

  • Are a specialist in clinical oncology and qualified for appointment as senior physician.
  • Have interest in and preferably experience with late effects after cancer.
  • Have experience in treating breast cancer and/or colorectal cancer.
  • Work professionally thoroughly and incorporate the patient’s wishes and overall situation in the treatment.
  • Thrive in a professional community where we help each other, share knowledge and take共同 responsibility for patient treatment and department tasks.
  • Want to teach and contribute to the department's professional development.

An interest in research is welcome, but you can also contribute with a particular commitment to clinical work, teaching or quality development.

Application and employment We request a motivated application where you address the seven medical roles, along with CV, any publication list and a completed consultant assessment form.
