About the job

Do you want to help strengthen early intervention and make a difference for children and young people in vulnerable positions?

We are looking for two engaged, experienced and professionally strong child and youth counselors who want to be part of an ambitious Reception Team in the Family Department.

You will have the opportunity to become part of a coordinated effort where we work closely with children, families, schools and daycare facilities, both with early prevention as a forward-placed advisor or with acute needs, where children experience violence, abuse or other serious life circumstances with base at the town hall.

Two roles – one common task

You will become part of a strong professional community with experienced child and youth counselors, who work across the Reception. Some are attached to the general area as forward-placed advisers with focus on early and preventive interventions, while others work at the town hall with the more complex and serious cases.

The forward-placed team works preventively and closely with children, families, schools and daycare facilities. The focus is on early spotting, cross-disciplinary collaboration and rapid interventions that can help children and families before problems grow larger.

The Reception handles all assessments of notifications and deals with all acute needs with a special focus on children and young people who experience violence, sexual abuse, social control, honor-related issues or other serious life circumstances. Here we work quickly, methodically and with thechild’s safety as the highest priority, in a very dynamic and changing daily life. You must therefore thrive in a high tempo with changes and many balls in the air, while being able to communicate clearly, maintain an overview and adopt a sharp analytical perspective.

A strong professional community

The Family Department is part of the Children and Youth area and collaborates closely with authority advisers, schools, daycare facilities, psychologists, family therapists, pedagogues, youth units, SSP and many others.

We work with DUBU, ICS and Signs of Safety (SOS) and have a focus on professional quality, shared learning and coherent interventions around the child.

We offer you

  • A central role in a municipality with a strong focus on early intervention and prevention.
  • A professionally strong and inclusive colleague community.
  • Opportunities to influence and develop our interventions.
  • Thorough introduction and a mentoring program tailored to your experience.
  • External supervision and ongoing professional sparring.
  • Qualification and certification in relevant conversation and method tools.
  • A high degree of independence, flexibility and influence on task solving.
  • A varied everyday life with opportunities for academic depth and development.
  • A daily life where social work is valued and handled with care.

Who are you?

We are looking for a colleague who stands secure in their professional stance and can navigate a complex and rapidly changing everyday life. You work independently, reflectively and analytically and at the same time manage to build good relationships and strong cross-disciplinary collaborations, especially if you aim for the position as forward-placed child and youth adviser.

We particularly emphasize that you

  • Communicate clearly and trustworthily – both orally and in writing.
  • Can maintain an overview and direction, even when pace is high.
  • Work structured and methodically with spotting, assessments and interventions.
  • Have strong relationship and meeting-leadership skills.
  • Especially experienced with SOS as a meeting-management tool.
  • Can translate the Child Act into practice.
  • Are very familiar with the provisions of the abuse package.
  • Thrive with independent responsibility and at the same time contribute actively to the community.
  • Are curious, inclusive and see diversity as a strength and not a limitation.

Your tasks

Depending on your role, your tasks will include

In the forward-placed team

  • Consultation and advice to teachers and pedagogues about children in distress.
  • Facilitation of cross-disciplinary meetings, network meetings and LØFT processes.
  • Preventive conversations with children, youths and families.
  • Guidance in connection with notifications and professional assessments.
  • Building bridges between the general area and the Family Department.

In the reception

  • Receiving and assessing notifications.
  • Screening and handling of acute concerns.
  • Conversations with children and youths as well as relevant parents and partners.
  • Work with cases of violence, abuse and honor-related issues.
  • Safety assessments and safety plans.
  • Professional sparring and guidance to colleagues and partners.
  • You must be able to work methodically and safely in cases where the child’s safety and needs require rapid action and clear professional judgment.

Practical information

Salary and employment terms follow the applicable collective agreement and the Ny Løn principles. We always obtain child and criminal records checks as well as references in connection with the employment.
