About the job

Do you want to help develop acute medical nursing in the FAM at OUH?

Do you have a passion for acute nursing, professional development and clinical leadership? Do you want to make a difference for both patients and colleagues – and help shape the direction of the nursing profession development in a department in constant motion?

Then maybe it is you we are looking for!

In the Common Emergency Department (FAM) at OUH we are seeking a clinical nurse specialist who will help strengthen the quality of acute medical nursing and support the continued development of employees' professional competencies.

About us – and why we are looking for you

The majority of OUH's acute patients pass through FAM. We receive patients with many different problems, and our everyday life is characterized by high professionalism, interdisciplinary teamwork and the need to be able to act competently in a changing and sometimes hectic daily life.

FAM is an evolving department. We are growing professionally and organizationally, while having a strong focus on education and competence development – not least through our specialist education in acute nursing. This sets new demands on how we support and develop nursing close to clinical practice.

Therefore we want to strengthen the clinical nursing professional input in our medical zone with a clinical nurse specialist who can help ensure that professional development continues to go hand in hand with daily patient care and treatment.

You will play a central role in translating professional knowledge into good clinical practice. Your main task will be to support nurses' professional development, create learning in everyday life and strengthen clinical leadership in the medical zone.

You will become part of FAM’s Academy for Acute Nursing, where we work purposefully with education, development and research. Here we initiate, implement, implement and evaluate projects and educational programs focusing on patient-centered nursing and treatment.

The Academy of Acute Nursing brings together clinical nurse specialists, chief ward nurses, education leads, trauma coordinators, PhD students and other professional forces. It provides good opportunities for sparring, knowledge sharing and collaboration across professional boundaries.

As a clinical nurse specialist you will work closely with the department's leadership and other clinical nurse specialists. Together with one of FAM’s chief ward nurses you will also have a specialty responsibility for a specific area in the department.

Your main tasks

You will have a varied daily life, where you are close to clinical practice and work purposefully with development and quality.

Your duties will include, among others

  • Support clinical practice: Supervise and mentor nurses in the medical zone and contribute to high quality care and treatment of the acute patient.
  • Strengthen competence development: Identify professional learning needs and translate them into teaching, sparring and concrete learning pathways.
  • Develop clinical leadership: Support nurses' ability to prioritize, coordinate and make professionally sound decisions in complex patient pathways.
  • Create a link between knowledge and practice: Communicate and implement evidence-based knowledge so it becomes usable in the clinical daily life.
  • Drive quality and development work: Contribute to developing, testing and implementing new initiatives that strengthen quality and patient safety.
  • Contribute to joint professional development: Collaborate with the Academy for Acute Nursing and the department's other key personnel on education, knowledge sharing and development of nursing.

The tasks are carried out in close collaboration with staff, chief nurse coordinators and other professional groups. We do not expect you to solve everything alone, but that you want and are able to create development together with others.

Who are you?

We expect you to have several years of clinical experience, preferably from acute nursing, and a relevant master's or candidate degree.

In addition, we emphasize that you

  • Are professionally well-founded and have a strong interest in acute medical nursing.
  • Have good communication and presentation skills and can create learning both individually and in groups.
  • Can translate evidence-based knowledge into concrete actions in clinical practice.
  • Have an eye for colleagues' competencies and learning needs and can guide, supervise and provide constructive feedback.
  • Work independently, structured and goal-oriented, and manage to create progress in development tasks.
  • Are curious, proactive and open to new solutions.
  • Thrives in a multidisciplinary environment and can create followers around professional development and changes.

It is important that you can both dive into professional issues and keep an overview of the entire clinical everyday life. You should be eager to be visible in practice, be available to your colleagues and actively contribute to a culture where we learn from each other.

What can we offer you?

With us you have the opportunity to make your professional mark on the development of acute medical nursing in a large and complex emergency department.

We offer you

  • A central professional role: You will have the opportunity to shape the development of nursing in the medical zone and help translate the department's ambitions into concrete practice.
  • A strong professional community: You will become part of the Academy for Acute Nursing and work closely with engaged colleagues with different professional competences.
  • Close collaboration with management: You will have the opportunity to contribute to professional priorities and development initiatives in close dialogue with the department's leadership.
  • Time for development: There are aims for 1-2 development days per week, so there is the opportunity to work purposefully with development tasks.
  • A good working environment: We prioritize collaboration, respect, openness and a respectful tone.
  • Possibility for continued professional development: You will have access to sparring and relevant opportunities for competence development.

We are an department with high ambitions for acute nursing, and we believe we achieve the best results when we develop together and bring our different competencies into play.
