About the job

Control officer, Brønderslev Municipality

Do you have an eye for detail, a sense of fairness, and a desire for a everyday life filled with both professional challenges and good humor?

Brønderslev Municipality is seeking a skilled and dedicated control officer who will help prevent, deter and uncover fraud related to public services.

Who are we?

In the Control Unit we work to ensure that public services are paid on a correct basis.

The Control Unit is organizationally located in Citizen Service, and today consists of 1.5 full-time equivalents and will be expanded with this position by an additional 1 FTE. You will become part of a professionally strong team, where quality, cooperation and propriety go hand in hand. Here you will have great freedom to plan your work tasks and the opportunity to influence the development of the municipality’s control efforts.

A significant part of the work consists of investigating and clarifying cases where there is doubt whether public benefits are paid on the correct basis. You will collaborate with colleagues across the municipality and with external partners such as Udbetaling Danmark, the Tax Agency, the police and other authorities.

Who are you?

We are looking for a colleague who has a positive and appreciative approach to citizens, businesses and colleagues and can handle pressure and conflict-filled conversations with integrity. You have good collaboration skills and enjoy working cross-disciplinary, are service-minded and good at communicating in writing and verbally. You can work independently and can have many balls in the air at once.

We imagine that you

  • Have a relevant professional education and preferably experience with control work in a municipality or another public authority.
  • Have knowledge of authority tasks and can read and understand complex legislation
  • Work in a structured way, have a sense of order and strong written skills
  • Have experience with reading and understanding accounting material and payroll information
  • Are curious, outgoing and good at collaborating – both independently and in teams
  • Have a flair for IT and can navigate securely in several case systems
  • Have an understanding of legal certainty, ethics and proper administrative conduct

Your tasks will include

  • Investigate and process complaints from citizens, authorities and municipal employees
  • Gather, analyze and assess information
  • Provide guidance and sparring to both citizens and colleagues
  • Personal and telephone conversations with citizens and companies
  • Preventive actions and guidance for citizens and companies
  • Collaboration with, among others, Udbetaling Danmark, Skattestyrelsen, the police and other authorities
  • Preparation of recommendations to relevant professional areas and authorities
  • Participate in and conduct outbound business inspections
  • Contribute to developing and strengthening the municipality’s control efforts
  • Make police reports and possibly serve as a witness in court cases

We offer

  • An exciting job with a wide variety of tasks
  • A high degree of independence and responsibility
  • A strong professional environment with good sparring opportunities
  • Skilled and engaged colleagues
  • Good opportunities for professional and personal development
  • Flexible working conditions and a workplace focused on well-being
  • An work environment where high professionalism goes hand in hand with a good laugh, informal tone, and colleagues who help each other when tasks intensify.
