About the job

We are seeking a nurse for Medical Diseases, Cancer Diseases inpatient ward in Sønderborg.

We have received an expansion to strengthen local palliative advisory options for the primary sector, therefore we are seeking a nurse with start 01.12.26. The position is by default 37 hours per week.

We are staffed for 14 beds. 2 for oncological patients and 12 for palliative patients; when there is space we also accept general medical patients.

Our palliative patients who are terminally registered are admitted directly to the department with complex problems such as: nausea, pain, dyspnea, constipation or social issues.

The oncological beds are intended for patients in oncological treatment with a need for admission for example due to side effects of chemotherapy or immunotherapy.

In daily practice we have close collaboration with the department's physiotherapists, occupational therapists and discharge coordinators. In addition, some of our closest partners are Team for Palliative Care, Oncological Outpatient Clinic and Hospice Sønderjylland in Haderslev.

We place a high value on interdisciplinary collaboration. Every day there is a morning meeting with the department's doctors, where today's patients, ward rounds are prioritized and planned. The department's permanent staff consists of doctors and nurses as well as social and health care assistants. The atmosphere in the department is pleasant and calm, even if we can be busy.

  • We value a good working environment highly, as well as helpfulness, good humor and good collegiality.
  • We aim to offer our patients individualized high-quality nursing care.
  • Keywords in our care are dignity, trust and quality of life.
  • Through dialogue with the patient and their relatives we will create a treatment environment based on safety, cooperation and quality.
  • We have dedicated patient care and meet for a timeout at midday, where we evaluate the day in progress and focus on helping each other.
  • We value joint reflection on current issues.

We imagine that you are

  • professionally engaged and ideally with experience and special interest in palliative care
  • focused on the whole person and delve into the physical, psychological, social and spiritual issues surrounding the individual patient and their relatives
  • responsible and calm
  • open-minded and have situational awareness as well as strong empathy
  • good at prioritizing and have a good overview
  • interested in and capable of both working mono- and interprofessionally

We offer

  • introductory program, onboarding nurses and ongoing follow-up
  • weekend shifts in fixed rotation. We work 8 hours with either weekend shift every 2nd or 3rd weekend
  • wish plans with the possibility to influence your own work schedule, with a focus on both ward operations and the individual employee's private life
  • fixed supervision with a psychologist 4 times annually
  • a community and collaboration beyond the ordinary
