Danish teacher for 1st year class – gain freedom to shape the teaching

Do you want to be part of creating a school day where you, as a teacher, have a strong influence on both the content and organization of the teaching?

At Kirstinedalsskolen we are looking for an engaged and relationship-skilled Danish teacher for our 1st year class.

You are involved in creating the school day

We have organized our early years so that staff have a large professional scope. In 1st year, teachers and pedagogues combine their hours and plan together how time is best used.

This means that you are part of creating the timetable, the content, and the organization of the school day, within the common framework.

The timetable is therefore not necessarily fixed from the start of the year. You plan based on the children you have, the goals you must reach, and the opportunities that arise along the way.

It can, for example, mean that you

• work project-oriented and cross-disciplinary over longer periods
• combine subjects into coherent learning processes
• spend a whole day on a thematic or project-based topic
• organize the children differently depending on activity and need
• create space for deepening, movement, creativity, and investigative learning
• adjust planning when the group of children or the learning situation calls for it.

As a Danish teacher you will have the opportunity to integrate reading, writing, language, literature, and orality into both the subject-based teaching and the larger cross-curricular projects.

Freedom – with shared responsibility

The freedom does not mean that you stand alone. On the contrary.

In the year group, teachers and pedagogues plan and evaluate closely together. You pool resources around the children and use your different professional strengths to create a varied and coherent school day.

We have a high degree of methodological freedom and a culture where it is natural to share ideas, be curious about each other’s practice, and find solutions together.

You will become part of a professional community where we do not expect you to have all the answers, but that you want to contribute, test ideas, and develop practice together with your colleagues.

In Kirstinedalsskolen you are employed under the local working time agreement for teachers and kindergarten class leaders in Køge Municipality.

We emphasis clear common frameworks while also allowing space for teachers and pedagogues to use their professional expertise and judgment.

The flexible organization provides the possibility of more adults around the children and creates good conditions for differentiation, relationship work, and close follow-up of each child.

The position starts on 1 December 2026 and is a full-time position with salary and terms of employment in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and Køge Municipality’s local agreements.
