About the job

Do you have a green thumb, leadership experience, and are you a team player? Then you are exactly the person we are looking for as the new leader of the daily operations and development of Lyngby Park Cemetery and Sorgenfri Cemetery. Here you will have a visible leadership role close to both employees and daily operations – with the opportunity to make a real difference in how we run and develop the municipality's two cemeteries. We are looking for someone who thrives with management close to everyday work and who has a vision for the ongoing development of the cemeteries.

Area Operations in the Center for Areas and Real Estate is seeking an experienced operations manager for the Cemeteries. In Area Operations as a whole, we are about 80 employees with different professional backgrounds, education and experience. As the municipality’s operations department, our tasks range from caring for and maintaining municipal cemeteries, operation and maintenance of the municipality’s other green areas, public road areas, squares and winter service.

We are seeking an operations manager who will create the best framework for the staff and help ensure that the cemeteries’ operating and construction tasks are carried out efficiently and with high quality.

What is the frame for the job?

You will become part of the operations management together with your leadership colleagues in Operations Green and Operations Road, and you will be tasked with ensuring good and proper leadership of the approx. 10-12 employees distributed across the 2 cemeteries for which you are responsible. We focus on more leadership close to the task, so employees can see and consult with their management in everyday life.

If you are a team player who believes that 2 plus 2 equals 5, we would love to hear from you.

With reference to the Head of Area Operations, you as the operations manager have responsibility for daily operations, task solving and leadership of your own area. You will focus on high professionalism, operation optimization and good service for the benefit of grave owners and municipality residents. This happens in close collaboration with your other colleagues in the management team, where emphasis is on cooperation and cross-disciplinary task solving when it makes sense.

What tasks will you perform?

On your to-do list are

  • Daily prioritization and qualification of tasks
  • Staff management, including creating motivation, well-being and job satisfaction
  • Optimal task management and consistency in task execution
  • Systematic conduct of performance interviews (MUS), handling of sick leave etc.
  • Guarantee for good and clear collaboration internally and externally, among other things through good and clear communication
  • Responsibility for your own operations team and management of the joint budget for the cemeteries

You will join the team that on a rotating basis handles operations watch and winter service. At the same time, you will be part of a management team with a focus on collaboration and cross-disciplinary task solving.

What do you bring with you?

  • You are comfortable and confident in a leadership role, and you will work with your colleagues to achieve efficient operations through expertise, mutual trust and good well-being at the cemeteries
  • You have solid leadership experience within cemetery and funeral operations; perhaps from the municipal sector or from the Church
  • You are able to create an overview and coherence between tasks at both strategic and operational levels
  • You have a keen eye for constructive solutions
  • You are a natural and positive role model when there is a need to challenge the “we’ve always done it this way” culture
  • You are curious about new methods and efficient task solving
  • You know that as a leader in a political system you must cultivate good relationships and collaborate closely with the rest of the administration
  • You are good at communicating with grave owners and funeral directors and generally have a good understanding of the area’s specific needs when meeting people in grief
  • You have good structure in your work and know that plans are important to reach goals
  • If you have knowledge of biodiversity, natural areas and care of protected landscapes, that would be a plus, as Lyngby Park Cemetery particularly contains large natural resources. The most important thing is that you are willing to learn.
