About the job

Are you interested in international cooperation, and do you thrive at the intersection of economic analysis and policy? Would you help shape Denmark's stance on tax policy negotiations in, among others, the EU and OECD? Do you thrive with a broad collaboration landscape and diverse tasks? Then you may be the colleague we are looking for for International Tax Policy.

About the position

International Tax Policy (ISK) is the Ministry of Taxation and Growth's office for international cooperation on tax and customs. As a staff member in the office you will work with formulating Denmark's position within the tax arena and safeguarding Denmark's interests in international negotiations and fora such as the EU, OECD, the Nordic region and the UN. In this context you will, among other things, contribute to economic analyses and policy development within international tax policy.

You will also contribute analyses for the Ministry of Taxation and Growth's negotiations of double taxation agreements . You will independently coordinate a number of processes with other ministries in connection with the development of Denmark's stance and the creation of new political proposals at, among others, the EU level. You will therefore have a broad collaboration interface, both internally in the ministry and with other ministries.

Your tasks will include

  • Formulation of Denmark's position on, among other things, EU proposals within the tax domain
  • Decision briefs and government matters within ISK's remit
  • Serving the Minister of Taxation and Growth and the Parliament
  • Preparation of impact assessments of international tax policy initiatives
  • Analyses for work on double taxation agreements
  • Participation in international working groups
  • Responses to questions from the Folketing.

You will become part of an office of 10 staff and two office heads. We are economists, lawyers and generalists, and we place great emphasis on getting along with each other and with other offices in the ministry. We focus on ensuring that our employees are continually challenged, and therefore aim for both newly graduated and experienced staff to experience a steep learning curve through tasks that support continued professional and personal development.

You should be prepared that there may be periods with a higher workload, which means you must be ready to make an extra effort, but we prioritize balance between work and leisure.

About you

You have a cand.polit./oecon. or similar degree. You are recently graduated or have some years of experience, and it is an advantage if you have knowledge of EU and/or OECD processes. You have strong professional expertise, understanding of the political environment, and you have good written and spoken Danish and English skills.

As a person you are highly engaged, have a good sense of humor and a positive attitude. You are thorough, independent and proactive. You enjoy collaborating with others and place emphasis on building strong collaborative relationships. You can drive and operate in complex processes, and you feel at home in an environment where the pace can be high.

Work close to what matters

In the Ministry of Taxation and Growth we work closely with the political processes in a field with high attention and many stakeholders. We put all our efforts into solving our tasks in a proper manner while setting direction and creating solutions for our entire organization.

We are a professional and ambitious department with about 330 employees, who daily solve challenging tasks across disciplines. We know that a good solution arises from the interaction between disciplines. Therefore we cultivate a strong professional collaboration culture, where there is also room for the social.
