Educator or Pedagogical Assistant for the respite department at Solbo

About Solbo

Solbo is Silkeborg Municipality's day and respite care service for children and young people with permanently reduced physical and mental functions.

We are seeking a pedagogue or pedagogical assistant for our respite department, which consists of 10 rooms and around 40 children and young people associated with us who come to us according to individual respite plans.

You will be part of a fixed team with responsibility for a group of children and young people. As a coordinating pedagogue you closely follow the children and collaborate with families and other professionals around the child. At the same time you participate in the cross-disciplinary collaboration around all children and young people in the department.

A day-to-day life with presence and structure

No day is the same, but common to them all is that you support the children through the day's routines, activities and transitions.

It may involve support for meals, personal care, play and activities or health-related tasks such as tube feeding, which you of course will be thoroughly trained in.

On weekends and holidays there is time for shared experiences both at Solbo and away from home, always based on the children's interests, resources and needs.

Our most important task is to create safety, predictability and the possibility for development for each individual child.

We see the child behind the behavior

Many of the children have autism, multiple disabilities or limited verbal language. Therefore we work with alternative and augmentative communication, including pictograms and sign language.

We work from a common pedagogical framework with KRAP, Low Arousal, autism understanding and an appreciative approach. We do not meet behavior with quick fixes, but with curiosity, reflection and an understanding that behavior is communication.

The work can be challenging, and therefore we prioritize supervision, professional sparring and reflection as a natural part of everyday life.

• are educated as a pedagogue or a pedagogical assistant
• would like to work with children and young people with complex developmental disorders
• meet children and young people with patience, empathy and an appreciative approach
• can maintain sufficient calm and overview, even when the day changes direction
• have an interest in or experience with KRAP, Low Arousal, LA2 and autism field

Salary and employment terms according to the applicable collective agreement and agreement on local wage formation.

The position is generally 37 hours per week with varying working hours between 6:00 and 22:45 and weekend shifts every third weekend.
