Emdrup Church is looking for a church caretaker

A position as a church caretaker at Emdrup Church, Copenhagen, is vacant as of 1 February 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position is 25 hours per week.

We are looking for a friendly colleague who wants to help make Emdrup Church an inviting place for our many users.

We desire a person who will work with the church's visions. It is important that you have your hands well on the practical tasks and can ensure the premises look neat. You should be able to thrive in a day-to-day with many irons in the fire, while at the same time be ready to put aside what you have in your hands to welcome the people who come to the church – including those who need special attention.

We expect that you, in collaboration with our chief church caretaker, plan your workday and enter into good cooperation with the church's other staff.

The church caretakers perform the following core tasks

Cleaning and light maintenance of the church buildings.

Carry out practical tasks during services and other church rituals.

Participation in, as well as preparation and tidying up for events, including cooking for a monthly pasta service.

Care of outdoor areas (currently snow removal and salting outsourced to an external company).

Work schedule planning is the responsibility of the administrative leader, but is done in cooperation with both church caretakers so that everyone’s wishes are as far as possible met.

We are an active parish with many activities for people of all ages. Services and activities are very well attended. The parish has 4,906 inhabitants and is characterized by scenic surroundings by Utterslev Mose on the outskirts of the Municipality of Copenhagen. There are only a few minutes’ walk to public transport.

There is an obligation to render service at other employing authorities in accordance with the agreements the parish council has entered into/has entered into with other employing authorities.

Employment is through Emdrup Parish Council, Ved Vigen 7-9, 2400 København NV.

The employment is covered by the Common Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees’ Organizations (OAO-S) and the Collective Agreement for church functionaries with core tasks as church caretaker or grave-digger entered into between the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs and the Danish Churchyard Clerks’ Association and the accompanying protocol for church caretakers. Current civil servant employed church caretakers have the right to retain their civil servant status upon direct transition. In that case, the position must be classified.

It is a condition that the mandatory 5 weeks of training for church caretakers is completed within 2 years after the start of employment.

Annual salary is agreed within the range of 324,667 – 408,841 DKK (current prices).

There is a duty to be available for the position. The availability allowance amounts to 33,231 DKK per year (current prices).

OK allowance of 1,401 DKK (current prices) per year.

An agreement on placement within the salary range is concluded between the parish council and the Danish Churchyard Clerks’ Association.

The salary, OK allowance, and availability allowance are allocated in accordance with the employment fraction of the position.
