About the job

Do you want to help strengthen the emergency preparedness in the City of Copenhagen?

How do we ensure that schools, kindergartens and other municipal buildings can continue to operate when something unexpected happens?

And how do we turn emergency plans into concrete solutions that work in practice?

These are some of the questions you will work with as an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator at Copenhagen Properties (KEJD).

We are looking for a colleague who is interested in emergency preparedness, risk management and crisis management, and who wants to create structure, collaboration and progress in an important societal task. You do not need many years of experience to apply. Perhaps you are a newly educated catastrophe and risk manager or have another relevant education. Maybe you have already worked with preparedness, coordination, planning or risk management. The most important thing is that you want to apply your professional expertise, learn new things and translate knowledge into solutions that make a difference.

With us you will have the opportunity to develop professionally, collaborate with many different people and contribute to strengthening the emergency preparedness in the City of Copenhagen.

About the job

As an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator you will play a central role in developing and coordinating the emergency preparedness at KEJD. You will help ensure that our plans are up to date, that responsibilities are clear, and that we are well prepared if a serious incident occurs.

You will become part of an area where professionalism and collaboration go hand in hand. You must create an overview, collect perspectives from different professional areas and help translate complex issues into concrete and usable solutions.

You will work closely with colleagues at KEJD and with emergency preparedness partners across the City of Copenhagen. You will have both independent responsibility for concrete deliveries and opportunities to develop tasks in dialogue with others.

Your tasks will include, among other things, to

  • create coherence in the emergency preparedness: Coordinate interventions across KEJD and contribute to a common direction and clear frameworks for emergency preparedness work
  • translate professional knowledge into a decision basis: Prepare memoranda, meeting materials, responses to political questions and contribute to political proposals
  • develop usable emergency plans: Review and update existing plans so they are relevant, clear and usable when needed – you also contribute to developing exercise concepts
  • create structure and progress: Develop an annual plan for emergency preparedness work, so activities, follow-up and maintenance are interconnected
  • contribute to crisis management: Join KEJD's crisis group and help coordinate the handling of emergency events across the organization's areas of responsibility
  • strengthen collaboration in the municipality: Share knowledge and coordinate interventions with the municipality's other emergency preparedness professionals, so we are stronger together.

The area of emergency preparedness has high political attention. You must therefore be willing to work in a politically guided organization where professional assessments, clear messages and a solid basis for decisions are important.

You do not need to know everything from day one. We place emphasis on you having a solid professional foundation, being curious and wanting to develop in the role.

Who are you?

We imagine that you have a relevant education in, for example, catastrophe and risk management, emergency preparedness, societal security or a related field. You may be newly educated or have experience from the emergency preparedness field. You may also have built relevant competencies through other tasks where you have worked with coordination, planning, risks or cross-functional collaboration.

We are especially interested in how you work, collaborate and translate your knowledge into practice.

We imagine that you

  • have an interest in emergency planning, risk management, crisis handling and continuity of operations
  • can create an overview of complex issues and make them manageable through structure and concrete plans
  • work systematically, follow up and ensure that tasks are completed
  • thrive in collaborating with people with different professional backgrounds and perspectives
  • can communicate professional issues clearly and understandably both in writing and orally
  • are keen to learn, ask questions and develop both your own professional skills and our joint solutions.

You do not need to check every single box. If you can see yourself in the tasks and want to contribute to a stronger emergency preparedness, we would love to hear from you.

What do you get with us?

A job with a clear purpose. Your contribution helps ensure that municipal buildings and important functions can be maintained even when everyday life is challenged.

An opportunity to influence development. You will become part of an area where emergency preparedness work is continually developed, and where your professional perspectives can help shape the solutions.

Professional development in practice. You will have the opportunity to translate your education and knowledge into concrete tasks and gain experience with emergency preparedness in a large, complex organization.

Strong cross-functional collaboration. You will have a broad contact network and the opportunity to learn from colleagues and partners with different professional backgrounds.

A role with both responsibility and mentorship. You will have independent tasks and the opportunity to take initiative, while collaborating with relevant colleagues to find good solutions.

We aim to create frameworks where you can bring your competences into play, ask questions and develop in step with the tasks.
