At Nordvangskolen, we are seeking a head of department who will help develop safe learning environments with opportunities for all kinds of children and at the same time be a present manager for the staff. You will enter a new management team with good opportunities to influence and sharpen the final task allocation based on our combined strengths and interests. Your primary areas of responsibility

The position requires that you can maintain an overview in a complex daily life, where you are both close to the pedagogical practice and take responsibility for the daily operations.

Although tasks are adapted to the overall management team, your central areas of focus could be:

• Pedagogical focus & inclusion: You create systematics and an overview of the school's initiatives, lead and develop the resource center as a common focal point for the school's inclusive learning environments. We work relational pedagogy with the ICDP (International Child Development Programme)
• As head of department you will be responsible for the daily management of a department. This means close follow-up on the children's well-being, learning and development, staff management and employees' professional development, close and trusting cooperation with parents, pupil cases and collaboration with relevant professionals and partners, support of the school's shared pedagogical and didactic direction, being close to employees' practice while also ensuring direction and development.
• Substitute coverage & daily operations: You are responsible for the daily substitute coverage and ensuring that the school day runs as smoothly as possible in case of illness or absence. You find solutions with an eye for both pedagogical quality and pedagogical continuity.

We are looking for a leader who

• Has a teaching professional background and preferably experience with leadership in the public school.
• Has experience with or strong interest in inclusion and special pedagogical initiatives.
• You must be able to create followership. This means that you can set a direction, be clear about expectations and make decisions, and at the same time invite dialogue and be genuinely interested in others' perspectives.
• You must be able to navigate safely between operations and strategy. Day-to-day life at a school requires an overview, structure and the ability to get tasks finished, while we always need to keep an eye on long-term development. You are therefore both structured, flexible and good at prioritizing.

Salary and employment terms

Employment is in accordance with the current agreement for pedagogical leaders. A background check and criminal record check will be obtained upon employment.
